This music-inspired Chinese restaurant at Aloft Singapore Novena has orchestrated a line-up of festive dishes that'll strike a chord. Available as part of set menus and a la carte, the scrumptious dishes are creatively named after popular Chinese song titles, such as Receiving Blessings This Season 迎春接福恭喜你 ($88++/$168++). This exquisite dish features braised 6 head abalone, well-seasoned and tender pork, mushroom and black moss.

Another one that hits all the right notes is Lucky Star Upon You 福星高照喜上眉稍 ($68++), a comforting and flavour-packed pot of double-boiled chicken soup with fish maw, sea whelk and canopy.

The restaurant also offers Prosperity Yu Sheng ($68++ for 4 to 5 pax, $108++ for 8 to 10 pax) with a tangy and refreshing twist thanks to a generous drizzling of passionfruit sauce along with succulent salmon slices and chunky scallop pieces.

Selected dishes are available for takeaway from 26 January to 24 February 2024.

#2 Min Jiang at Goodwood Park Hotel

This lavish, award-winning Chinese restaurant has introduced new savoury delicacies including Min Jiang's Braised Whole Spring Chicken, Whole Dace Fish stuffed with Liver Sausage & Black Moss, and Sea Treasures in Pot. They are available as part of set menus (from $138++ per person).

Min Jiang also offers four yu sheng variations with a choice of lobster, salmon, abalone or a vegetarian option.

Start the new year on a grand high with the Dragon Prosperity Blessings ‘Lo Hei’ ($328++), a stunningly plated yu sheng dish with an intricate dragon hand-painted by Min Jiang's Master Chef Chan Hwan Kee.

The dragon is depicted as breathing "fire", which is a bed of fresh and julienne vegetables like arugula, sorrel, yellow frisée and red shiso. Giving it a lovely crunch is a garnishing of deep-fried sweet potato strips, pine nuts, peanuts, white sesame seeds and crackers. It's then finished with pomelo, red ginger, and a tangy dressing of orange jam, calamansi juice, peanut oil and 'yu sheng' sauce. Accompanying it is an impressive plate of lobster, 6-head abalone, salmon sashimi and jellyfish flower.

#3 Soup Restaurant

Looking for something traditional and comforting? Soup Restaurant is your best bet. For the first time, the restaurant will be launching the Lobster Abalone Abundance Pot ($368 for 5 / $598 for 10) filled with with 10 premium seafoods and a moreish lobster collagen broth, complete with a lobster imported from western Australia.

Along with that are seasonal dishes including Baby Abalone & Salmon Yu Sheng (from $46.90 for 2 to 3) including longan for a refreshing and sweet twist, and Steamed Rice with Chinese Sausage and Snow Vegetables ($49.90) that serves 5. These are also available as set menus with the iconic Samsui Ginger Chicken among other scrumptious dishes.

There's no better time to bask in Dian Xiao Er's ancient Chinese aesthetic than during the Chinese New Year season! There are also three Chinese New Year Set Menus (from $168 for 3) for groups of up to 10 diners.

Dishes include the tender and fatty Prosperity Pineapple Pork Ribs fried to sweet caramelisation, tangy Golden Zesty Deshelled Prawns that's crispy on the outside and juicy inside, and Auspicious Abalone Seafood Pot with abalone, fish maw, sea cucumber and more simmered in a collagen-rich pumpkin golden broth.

The buffet line-up boasts roast carvings like Kumquat Honey-Glazed Rotisserie Chicken, Black Garlic & Truffle Char Siew, Crackling Roasted Pork Belly and Argentinian Ribeye on Hibachi Grill. For the uninitiated, this traditional floral fabric from Northeastern China has hyper-saturated and contrasting colours are incredibly eye-catching and distinctive. The restaurant will have Dong Bei Flower-style clothing pieces that diners can don and take photos with.

For the festive season, Haidilao has introduced a new addition to its menu, the first-ever Mala Yusheng ($38.80 or $58.80 with abalone slices). It has all the refreshing flavours of a traditional yu sheng, but with a touch of mala hot pot flavour adds a little kick.

The restaurants are also decked in Kung Fu Panda-themed decor, and there's even an adorable panda-shaped dessert.
