DMK Just Revamped Their Plaza Singapura Boutique With A Pink Oasis Theme, Floral Decor & Wall Of Inspiration
Even if you weren’t initially aware of local footwear brand DMK in their early days, you’re sure to be well familiar with them by now. With 20 over years of presence in our fashion scene, they’ve embarked on some timely rebranding in the past couple of years to better-suit the modern Singaporean woman of today - but trendy new shoe designs are just one aspect of it.
Just recently, DMK revamped their Plaza Singapura boutique with a pink-clad oasis theme, along with pretty floral decor, a wall full of inspiration, and eco-friendly elements that also serve as a homage to the store’s location at Dhoby Ghaut. Here’s a peek!

Aptly dubbed The Oasis, DMK’s refreshed Plaza Singapura outlet offers a calming shopping experience with its aesthetically-pleasing decor, all pretty in pink with an element of sustainability. Peering in from the outside, the store is clearly instantly inviting with its dreamy florals, and I found myself magically drawn towards it like a bee to honey - we daresay the same will likely happen to you.

While DMK’s signature brand colour is a shade of coral pink, you’ll notice some bits of sky blue in this particular outlet, as seen in some of the flower bunches, portions of the walls, and wave details on the floor. This is a nod to Dhoby Ghaut’s past, where it used to be a hotspot for Indian laundrymen to wash clothes in a stream. For the uninitiated, “Dhoby” means “washerman”, while “Ghaut” is the area along a river for bathing or washing of clothes.

The 3D wave patterns lining the perimeters of the shelving are particularly interesting, not just for their design but also for the fact that it was crafted using thousands of recycled plastic bottles. See the swirls of blue? Those happen to come from the bottle caps!

Stacked modular blocks in feminine pastel tones and even more floral centrepieces housed in clear acrylic boxes are arranged in the centre of the store, forming a feature area to highlight some of the latest and most popular DMK shoes and handbags.
At the same time, the old metal shelvings on the walls have been retained, as they’re still presentable and in perfectly good working condition, while the wooden display in the storefront window has actually been fashioned out of salvaged trees that were cut down for urban development.

According to Eileen Goh, Chief Creative Officer of DMK, the brand does not simply wish to project an eco-friendly image for the feelgood factor - they truly believe in the green movement, and make sure that they walk the talk. Hence it wouldn’t sit right with them if they were to brand themselves as sustainable sistas yet dump such functioning fixtures away. Makes sense!

Another special feature of The Oasis, DMK’s revamped Plaza Singapura store, is the presence of an interactive wall of inspiration. The rotating panels here feature stories on inspirational female figures in Singapore - from business owners to content creators and wellness advocates - along with fun facts on DMK’s brand story and what makes their shoes stand out.
According to DMK, their other branches will also be getting spruced up in time to come, but no two stores will be one and the same as each will tell a different story. Stay tuned!
