Remember Xiaomi’s cute Doraemon mobile phone from a few years back? The popular Chinese tech brand has yet again outdone themselves with a new character-themed mobile phone - the Xiaomi Civi 2 Hello Kitty edition - sporting a girly pink-accented, Sanrio-licensed design.

The excitement starts right from the unboxing stage with the new Xiaomi Civi 2 Hello Kitty smartphone - it comes packaged in a striking red box with the character’s face on it, which you can save to store other knick-knacks simply because it’s too pretty to be thrown out.

The phone itself comes in a white colourway, with  a cursive “Hello Kitty” logo and faint grey imprints of Hello Kitty motifs on the back panel. This may seem a tad underwhelming compared to the packaging at first glance, but there’s really more to this Sanrio smartphone than meets the eye - just step out into the sun and you’ll see what we mean.

Equipped with special photochromic properties, the Xiaomi Civi 2 Hello Kitty has colour-changing abilities that make it “blush” when put under natural sunlight. Watch as the grey Hello Kitty patterns slowly turn to a feminine rose red before your eyes!

On top of that, this Sanrio smartphone comes with a free blush pink Hello Kitty phone casing for when you’d like to switch things up a little, along with a sheet of exclusive stickers that you can paste anywhere you fancy.

The Xiaomi Civi 2 Hello Kitty smartphone was first launched in China in February 2023 and there has been no news of whether this limited edition piece will be made available at Xiaomi’s Singapore retail stores.

We did manage to find a Shopee preorder here for slightly over $1000, and although the seller has good ratings, there are currently no reviews on the listing. It is also unclear as to whether the phone is region-locked. Customers are strongly advised to do their own research and make their judgements on the legitimacy of the product listing before committing a purchase.
