Sanrio Singapore Has An Exclusive Limited Edition Hello Kitty Mahjong Set With Sakura Theme & Pretty Casing

Do a quick Google search and you’ll see that all the Hello Kitty-themed mahjong sets out there are either overseas pre-orders or pirated versions - but not anymore. The official Sanrio Store in Singapore is finally selling one too, in a pretty pink sakura theme to boot.

This Sanrio mahjong set, dubbed the Hello Kitty Sakura Mahjong Solitaire, is a limited edition one that comes in a sweet pink top-handle carrier box. This storage casing has an illustration of Hello Kitty dressed in a traditional Japanese kimono, surrounded by cherry blossoms in shades of pink, purple, and white.

Open up this beauty to reveal pink tiles that fit the whole kawaii theme to a T. In lieu of regular round coin symbols for the “tong” tiles are sakura motifs, and there’s even a special tile printed with a pink crown. The backs of the tiles are semi-translucent, bearing the image of Hello Kitty’s face and - you guessed it - even more sakura blooms.

Here’s the catch: This Hello Kitty Sakura Mahjong Solitaire set is extremely limited in quantity. Specifically, there are a mere 88 sets available in Singapore, which you can only get via the Sanrio Store at Takashimaya.

The purchase period is over a short 5 days or while stocks last; Takashimaya Members get dibs on the exclusive pre-sale on 12 and 13 October 2022, while the public can purchase them from 14 to 16 October 2022. You’ll have to hurry down in person as there’s no online sale for this item. Good luck!
