New Hanfu Experience In Singapore: Makeup, Hair Styling & Free-Flow High Tea With Scalp Treatments For Hair Loss
In the sea of beauty centres offering scalp treatments that promise healthier-looking hair and a revitalised scalp, Gracieux Beauty By T&C stands out for their Instagrammable appeal beyond just beauty services. In addition to the scalp treatment, customers are made to feel like princesses - glamming up in a kimono, getting their hair done and enjoying snacks and drinks.
Six months after their opening, the beauty salon has added new steps to their scalp treatment and replaced the kimonos with hanfus.

Besides getting a scalp treatment, customers can also have a little dress-up experience. Take your pick from a rack of gorgeous hanfus and the staff members will help you put it on. The hanfus are of surprisingly decent quality considering this is just a complimentary perk for customers. Think thick fabrics, classic colours and pretty embroidered details.

Customers will also get a hair makeover befitting their new ancient Chinese niang niang look. T&C is well-prepared with a large range of intricate hair accessories to create all kinds of looks from simple to all-out, over-the-top glam. They even have faux hair buns and braids - perfect for those with thin hair.

They even provide makeup and makeup services, although it might be wiser to bring your own for hygiene reasons.
Grab one of their props - umbrellas, fans, lanterns, music instruments - and strike a pose in front of the minimalist wooden doors.

They've also refreshed their scalp treatment with new steps to combat hair loss. It starts off with the usual scalp scan followed by a hair wash, gua sha scalp and steaming along with a neck massage. A difference I noticed is that they've skipped the scalp scrub and used the handheld scalp massager with shampoo instead.

There are also two steps added to the treatment that target hair loss. First is a scalp tonic by Sasagap that's applied using an applicator that helps the nutrients go straight into the scalp. The final step is a 10-minute session under the SMARTLUX phototherapy device that emits a bright red light. With a 635 nm wavelength, this light therapy is designed for cell regeneration and hair growth stimulation.

The scalp treatment definitely seems more refined compared to when I visited last November. It was more gentle on the scalp and the added steps for hair loss was a plus for my thinning mane. Although I can't say if it boosted hair growth just with one session, my scalp felt instantly refreshed and clean while my hair looked more voluminous at the top during the few days after the treatment.
Complimentary Free-Flow Mini High Tea at Gracieux Beauty By T&C
After the scalp treatment, sit back and enjoy a free-flow of complimentary snacks and drinks. If there aren't many customers on the day, your snacks may be served in a pretty high tea stand that's perfect for posing with in your new regal hanfu look.

The cakes and tarts weren't spectacular but still enjoyable, and the fruits were fresh. Drink choices include tea, coffee, milo, milk tea and even wine, although I'd recommend skipping the wine. I'm no wine expert but even my tastebuds didn't take to its sour flavour.
Nitpicking aside, this free mini high tea sweetens the whole experience, making it feel like more than just a beauty routine but also a pampering treat.

The scalp treatment is priced at $88 for first-time customers and includes the hanfu try-on as well as snacks and drinks.
For a more relaxing experience without the crowds, it's best to book your appointment on a weekday morning or afternoon. Do note that the staff only speak Chinese, so you might want to jio a translator friend if you don't speak the language.
P.S. T&C has a sister establishment, Oscar Head Spa, that has the same scalp treatment but with hanboks in a picturesque 2-storey space with a view of Marina Bay.
While you're here, check out the Clarins In The City pop-up, ongoing from now till 29 June, where you can get free skincare samples and photo ops at their travel-themed installations.
