Opening its doors on 31 March at Level 4 of The Heeren, the 31,630 square feet store will house Nitori Retail's extensive range of products that are the epitome of Japanese interior design. That includes furniture, furnishings, cookware, bedding, storage units, decor and more that boast innovative and functional designs while having that visually pleasing bare-bones yet warm aesthetic.
Helping shoppers visualise and experience their idyllic home life are show areas with furniture and furnishings styled like a cosy Japanese-style home.

A key feature of the new Nitori store is the customisation option it offers for furniture. Homeowners can mix and match dining tables and chairs, or get custom-made curtains and blinds.

There's also a build-a-sofa-type system where you can design your Nitori Original Leather Sofa with custom size, electric type, leather type and colour.

Most will agree that assembling furniture is the most tedious and dreaded part of the shopping experience. Well, Nitori's N-Click furniture spares us from that frustration as they have an innovative design where the individual parts click and lock together easily.
That means that the furniture can be assembled quickly and easily while remaining sturdy without the need for drilling or using screws.

The store has a large section dedicated to sleep products including N-sleep mattresses, Hotel Style Pillows (from $29.90) that envelop the head as it sinks in slowly, as well as N-Cool Technology bedding products - perfect for the Singapore weather.

Nitori created three ranges of cool contact fabric with varying levels of coolness: N-Cool, N-Cool Super, and N-Cool W Super.
The machine washable fabric is created with Nitori technology, which involves kneading "cold ores" into the yarn, resulting in a fabric that absorbs body heat and creates a cooling sensation.
The fabric is also antibacterial with deodorising treatment, water-absorbent and quick-drying. It has been made into every bed product imaginable from from comforters, fitted sheets and pillowcases to rugs.

One of the intriguing N-Cool finds is the Mochi Mochi pillow ($24.90), which has a cooling effect and extra filling for a comfortable sleep.

A stand-out product is the Diatomite Bath Mat (from $14.90) which is made of a material that's highly absorbant. You can try spritzing on some water to see how rapidly the surface of the mat dries.

It was pretty impressive how the moisture disappeared in seconds! When stepping out of the shower, this bath mat ideally provides a comfortable dry touch instead of that soggy feeling from soaked fabric.

The store also has many compact and multi-purpose home products that were designed for tiny homes in Japan. As HDB flats here seem to be shrinking, these products will come in handy for many.
An example is this Kettle Pot, a small cookware item that serves the two functions in its name. It can be used to boil water as well as cook meals without taking up too much space in the kitchen.

Another highlight of the store are the aesthetically pleasing cleaning products that come in sleek designs and a minimalist white and dove grey colour palette.
In contrast to cleaning products that are often an eyesore with their garish colours and cheap plastic-y material, these look good enough that homeowners might not even hurry to hide them when guests arrive.
