New UNIQLO Modern Art Collection In Singapore: Shoes, Bags, Umbrellas, Homeware, T-Shirts

Basics like t-shirts and wireless bras are no doubt UNIQLO's main star, but their recent Snoopy cushions and Disney bag charms have us convinced that they should keep launching non-apparel items.

Well, this wish is coming true pretty soon as UNIQLO's upcoming Modern Arts collection in Singapore consists of tees as well as dinnerware, umbrellas, shoes and more accessories.

Launching online and in stores in Singapore on 23 August, the UNIQLO Modern Arts collection celebrates three American artists of the 20th century: Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring.

This isn't the first time UNIQLO has collaborated with the art world. Earlier this year, the UNIQLO x Louvre Museum collection saw t-shirts with Mona Lisa and more art pieces.

This time, the collection features contemporary art styles.

Andy Warhol

The artist and film maker is best known for his colourful pop art like The Marilyn Diptych. Some prominent works you may recognise on the apparel, accessories and home goods are the Campbell's Soup Cans and Brillo Boxes.

There's also the iconic yellow banana that Warhol designed for the band The Velvet Underground in 1967.

Those who love a good floral print will love the goods adorned with his piece, Flowers, a photograph of hibiscus blossoms turned into a technicolor series of silkscreens.

Jean-Michel Basquiat

First creating abstract graffiti art filled with symbolism, Basquiat later became a key part of the neo-expressionist movement and popularised African American heritage in art.

Featured in this UNIQLO collection is Pez Dispenser, one of his most well-known works that depicts a dinosaur wearing a crown, along with his signature art style of scribbling, enigmatic symbols and diagrams.

Keith Haring

Also inspired by graffiti art, this artist is known for his playful art style consisting of genderless figures in bright, vibrant colours with a black outline, packed together to form a vivid, eye-catching work of art.
