It doesn't need to be said that hawker culture is a national treasure and there's no better place to get good food. But Char quay teow and mee rebus aside, there are hawker stalls that offer dishes that are close to what you'd pay for at a restaurant or cafe at a fraction of the price.

There's a Kovan stall with elaborate Western breakfasts under $10, an Alexandra stall with $2 soufflé pancakes, and a Toh Payoh stall with Korean fried chicken. Joining the ranks is a new hawker stall at Tiong Bahru that sells Din Tai Fung-style fried rice - Chef Wang Fried Rice.

Keep reading to find out more!

The Chef Wang Fried Rice stall is tucked away in a corner of Beo Crescent Hawker Centre, a convenient 4-minute walk from Tiong Bahru MRT Station.

The stall's namesake chef was a former chef at Din Tai Fung, which explains the food that looks uncannily similar to that of the Taiwanese chain.

The stall has four choices of fried rice starting from just $4 for a basic Egg Fried Rice. If that's too plain for your liking, you can go for the Pork Rib Fried Rice ($6.50), Shrimp Fried Rice ($6.50) or Abalone Fried Rice ($10).

Spice lovers can add $0.50 for sambal chilli that also looks very much like Din Tai Fung's chilli. Note that a $0.20 charge applies for takeaway orders!

On top of the affordable prices, Chef Wang Fried Rice also offers a $0.50 off discount for senior citizens.
