It’s no surprise that American rapper-actress Cardi B’s signature sleek, straight locks come with a ton of maintenance. In fact, her natural hair doesn’t even look that way. In a series of Instagram stories, she shares her homemade hair mask recipe using natural ingredients, while revealing her natural hair and makeup-free face.

Read on to learn about Cardi B’s DIY hair mask recipe!

Cardi B’s special hair mask can easily be made using ingredients you can find around your home:

  • Avocado
  • Argan Oil
  • Castor Oil
  • A scoop of mayonnaise
  • Olive Oil
  • Egg
  • Honey

She acknowledges that there’s a lot of oil involved, but says it’s all great for hydration. If you don’t have so many types of oil at home, you can probably omit a few or switch some out - just don’t use cooking oil, of course.

First, mash the avocado and mix everything else in.

Then, add a banana and another egg, and blend everything together. Cardi says that it’s important to use the blender to get everything fine and smooth, as it’s tough to remove chunks of avocado from hair.

The quantity for each ingredient has not been specified, so you can just go by gut feel and include what you think is an appropriate amount.

According to her, this mask nourishes hair and helps it grow. “All the good things you put in your body, you gotta put in your hair. You’re not gonna put soda in your hair because, of course, soda is not good for your body.” Above are photos of Cardi with her natural hair, which appears dry and frizzy.

Cardi uses this mask on both herself and her daughter, Kulture. Kulture's hair is very curly, with little coils, and Cardi says the mask helps bring out her girl’s curl pattern better.

She describes her own hair as straight, but says it “puffs up” after just 2 days. The mask is how she keeps it sleek, shiny, and frizz-free - and the before and after photos above speak for themselves.

Looks like this natural remedy is well worth trying out for Hollywood-worthy tresses - if you don’t mind putting raw eggs in your hair, that is.
