Met Gala 2025: The Best Dressed Stars Who Nailed The Tailored Theme

Fashion’s biggest night is back! After last year’s dreamy The Garden of Time theme that brought fairytale gowns and whimsical looks to the Met steps, the 2025 Met Gala took a sharp turn, literally. Held on Monday, 5 May, this year’s theme Tailored for You celebrated the art of suiting and the elegance of Black dandyism, in line with the Costume Institute’s spring exhibition, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.

Hosting the night were co-chairs Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, and Pharrell Williams—alongside the ever-iconic Anna Wintour, of course!

1. Rihanna

   Leave it to Rihanna to show up late and steal the show. She rocked up after everyone else had gone in—but for good reason! She surprised everyone by revealing baby number 3 with A$AP Rocky. In a custom Marc Jacobs look, she turned heads with a dramatic dandy vibe: tilted hat, Oxford heels, and a slit skirt that gave it a cheeky modern twist.

2. Sabrina Carpenter

   Sabrina totally nailed the tailored theme! She ditched the usual dress and went for a playful Louis Vuitton look designed by Pharrell Williams. Think: maroon bodysuit, blazer with long tails, and a whole lot of her signature flirty vibe. No pants? No problem.

3. Cynthia Erivo

   Cynthia showed up at the 2025 Met Gala in full glam mode with a dazzling Givenchy corset-jacket combo decked out in red, white and black crystals. She paired it with a fluffy tulle skirt and sky-high platform boots. The whole look screamed “boss energy” with a twist of elegance.

   Kerry brought drama in a custom SIMKHA sheer white skirt and an open blazer—plus a top hat! Add fishnet gloves and heels, and she gave us old-school glam with a sultry edge.

   Laura’s look was part tux, part fairy. Designed by Zac Posen for Gap Studio, it mixed denim and silk with dreamy sheer sleeves. The wide pants and tailored vest gave it a perfect balance of cool and couture.

   Jennie didn’t need to do much to stand out. She showed up in a custom black Chanel look—tailored pants, an off-shoulder tuxedo gown with a dramatic train, and a chic black-and-white boater hat.

   Zoe Saldana stunned in a black-and-white Thom Browne tuxedo gown, requiring 10,000 hours of handwork and adorned with 2.7 million white bugle beads. The look featured bridal buttons and an oversized bow cascading from her neck. She finished the look with earrings and a ring by Buccellati.

    Lisa made her Met Gala debut in all black and zero pants. Her lace Louis Vuitton blazer sparkled with pearls and crystals, styled with matching sparkly underwear. The look was accessorised with strands of pearls and chains along the hem, and she tied the look together with a sleek updo. Chic, daring, and very Met.

11. Diana Ross

    An icon doing icon things. Diana shut the whole carpet down in a silver gown with a jaw-dropping 18-foot train embroidered with her kids’ and grandkids’ names. Designed by Ugo Mozi, it was personal, glamorous, and totally unforgettable.

    Co-chair Colman Domingo made an early entrance in a floor-sweeping blue pleated cape by Valentino, complete with a gold collar. He then ditched the cape to show off a custom checked suit , also Valentino, with a giant polka dot flower, matching scarf, and eye-catching Boucheron bling.

13. A$AP Rocky

    A$AP Rocky, also a co-chair, wore a double-breasted AWGE parka inspired by Harlem's Marmot outerwear, paired with dressier pieces including a white cotton shirt, black wool trousers, a vest, and a black wool necktie. He completed the look with Christian Louboutin oxfords and Bulgari jewellery.

14. Lana Del Rey

    Lana looked like a gothic fairy tale in her Valentino gown. The brown and black mix, the lace detailing, and the feathered bow at the back were totally haunting—in the best way.

    Rosé is back at the Met Gala after three years. She showed up in a sharp black tux from Saint Laurent, designed by Anthony Vaccarello. The jacket had a low neckline that showed off her Tiffany & Co. sapphire necklace, while a dramatic train flowed behind her, hiding her tailored pants and bold red heels.
