Seafood is what every sensible diner starts with at a buffet. After all, it's the main attraction, the most high value item, and what makes or breaks the dining experience. For the most ardent seafood lovers looking for a buffet with large variety of seafood, Hilton Singapore Orchard's Estate is very much it.
The all-day buffet restaurant has re-debuted their Lobster, Crab and Seafood Delights buffet, which was first introduced as a month-long special last year. Now, the buffet is back permanently and available for dinner every Thursday.
Set in a modern-colonial inspired dining space with residential-style open kitchens, the buffet offers all sorts of oceanic delights cooked in every imaginable style.

At the centrepiece of the buffet are two towers of cold seafood including Maine Lobster, Snow Crab, Freshly Shucked Oysters, Clams, Mussels and Prawns.

Once you're all satisfied with the seafood on ice, move on to the hot seafood where you can indulge in crabs cooked in local-style flavours like Singapore Chilli Crab, Black Pepper Crab and Kam Heong-style Crab, as well as Kam Heong Flower Clams and Soft-shell Crab Burgers.

Love lobster? You'll get to enjoy it in many forms at this buffet. Besides the aforementioned cold version, it comes as the classic Lobster Thermidor, a comforting bowl of Crab and Lobster Bisque, and a hearty Lobster Tagliatelle pasta dish.

There's also a wide variety of non-seafood dishes including Grilled Skewers, Asian-inspired dishes, Charcuterie, Cheeses, Sushi, Dim Sum and my favourite - Estate's signature Black Truffle Roast Duck.
Leave some space for desserts as the sweets section is another highlight. This seafood buffet has the same line-up of beautifully presented desserts in little jars as well as whole cakes and assorted kuehs.
Every table had a pair of crab clipping scissors, lobster cracker, finger bowls and napkins. Eating seafood with hands can be a messy affair, and so I was pleasantly surprised by how elegant the dining experience was and the relatively neat state of my table throughout the meal. It was all thanks to the staff who were very prompt in clearing plates.
The Lobster, Crab and Seafood Delights buffet is available at Estate, Hilton Singapore Orchard every Thursday for dinner from 6.30 to 10pm and is priced from $158++ per person.
If that price seems a little too steep, their regular dinner buffet, which starts from $88 per person and also comes with fresh seafood offerings, might be more appealing. And while you're comparing buffets, check out their Grand Sunday Champagne Brunch Buffet too.
