Meet Kawaii Box, one of the most popular subscription box companies based in Japan, known for its handpicked monthly collection of kawaii (cute) stuff. The surprise element is what makes these boxes so appealing, knowing that each one is packed with things like squishes, stationery, plushies, and even snacks straight from Tokyo.

Some boxes are also themed to suit the country’s festivals and celebrations. For instance, the April 2022 box is themed around the sakura season, with items like sakura origami paper set, a retro lunch bag perfect for hanami (sakura flower viewing) picnics, as well as a Manmaru round animal plushie that’s basically a ball-shaped cat.

The site also gives a sneak peek of the upcoming month’s box so that you can decide if you’d like to subscribe.
