Christmas Light-Up In Town Includes Snow Domes, Skating Under The Stars, Light Show & More
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, especially since various malls have started to play jolly carols and put up their festive trees full of shiny baubles. Aside from Orchard Road, another place you should visit to marvel at the 2021 Christmas light-up in Singapore is the City Hall district.
If you were impressed by last year’s dome dining pods at CHIJMES and Capitol, you're sure to be blown away by this year’s displays which include life-sized snow domes, light shows, and skating under the stars.
P.S.: For more "wintery" fun, check out the new Ice Hotel Gallery with giant ice sculptures - the first of its kind in Singapore.

Capitol has once again dressed up their sheltered Outdoor Plaza for the festive season, bringing back their giant Singing Tree which will burst out into catchy yuletide tunes at fixed timings of 7.30pm and 8.30pm on 3 to 5, 10 to 12, and 15 to 26 December 2021. It’s free for all to enjoy, so join in the fun and bop along!
Snowfall will also be happening nightly from 7pm onwards.

The crystalline dome pods have also made a comeback, but this time, the dining experience has been traded for a bed of pillowy soft faux snow - with a texture that’s said to mimic that of the real thing. In order to ensure that everyone gets a fair chance, you’ll have to pay a small fee of $5 for an entry time of 30 minutes. Sessions can be booked anytime from 12pm to 9.30pm daily.

On top of that is also a Christmas Market with over 20 booths selling food, gifts, and knick-knacks, spanning across both the Outdoor Plaza and Arcade @ The Capitol Kempinski. As a memento of the experience, hop into the Sidecar Santa Photobooth ($5) for some cute pics in a vintage scooter!
The above activities will be happening till 26 December 2021.
Christmas 2021 at CHIJMES

CHIJMES is also getting in on the fun with their own snowfall sessions and pet-friendly vintage sidecars. One highlight here that’s unique to the location is the nightly Projection Mapping at The Lawn, where an enchanting flurry of Christmas scenes light up the facade of CHIJMES Hall, accompanied by whimsical music, on Mondays to Thursdays.
On Fridays and Weekends, this is replaced with interactive message dedication, where you can surprise loved ones with heartfelt words. These will be happening from 7.30pm to 10pm in 30-minute intervals.

But perhaps the most anticipated of all would be the Skating Rink at the CHIJMES Mini Lawn, where you can have your very own romantic Hallmark Christmas moment with bae as you twirl hand-in-hand under the starry night sky. This is made extra dreamy with the former chapel as a backdrop! Entry is only $5 for 30 minutes, and if you don’t have your own skates, you can rent them at $5 per pair. Do bring your own socks, else you’ll have to purchase them at $2.50.
Those with little or no skating experience can rent a cute seal-shaped skating guide at $5. It’ll give you something to hold on for balance so you won’t slip and fall.
The skating rink will be up till 2 January 2022, from 5pm to 9pm daily, while all the other aforementioned activities will be going on till 26 December.

While there, take a stroll through the grounds of the grand colonial building and admire the Enchanted Forest-themed decorations.
