It's the 72nd Independence Day and we have decided that instead of diving into the current state of our country, we're gonna build our knowledge with some pretty cool fun-facts that you probably didn't know. The 5 points listed below are extremely interesting.

  1. India is not the only country which celebrates it's Independence Day on August 15. North Korea, South Korea, Liechtenstein, Bahrain and Republic of Congo also share this exact date.

  2. Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru would not have been the first Prime Minister of India. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel had majority of votes but Nehru didn't want to play second-in-command. Also, because Mahatma Gandhi had a soft spot for him, he requested Sardar Patel to step down.

  3.  'Jana Gana Mana' was drafted by Rabindranath Tagore in 1911 to pay homage to Kind George V. It was later on officially adopted as our national anthem in 1950.
