Always use a proper and sharp nail cutter to trim your nails and stat trimming them slowly in their shape until only little over white part is left. You don't want to cut into your skin by going to deep. Use the natural curve of your nails to guide you instead of just cutting them straight up and ruining their shape and look.

File them properly

Nails are filed to make sure that there are not rough around the edges as they can scratch you easily. Filing nails helps in smoothening all the rough corners and helps in defining the shape of the nails. File your nails gently in the same motion as their growth. Starting from one point passing through the centre and reaching the other point.

Cuticles are the excessive skin particles that end up becoming hangnails and taking care of them will prevent you from experiencing the painful skin peel and trauma that comes with it( okay maybe not trauma but close enough!). Push your cuticles back onto the skin and take the excess out using cuticle remover that is easily available.

Always buff your nails

Buffing is simply exfoliating nails and making them shiny. Buffing is a four step procedure that starts with scraping the nails first followed by smoothening it and then polishing it to make them shine. Buffing makes the surface of the nails smooth and prevents abnormalities.

As important as it is to clean the nails from above, it is equally important to clean the nails from underneath as well. Use the tip of your nail filer to gently ease out any dust or dirt particles. Be gentle as you can easily pierce the skin around.

Use moisturisers and cuticle oil
