There are plenty of places in Singapore that'll make you feel like you're on a holiday overseas at some bustling city area, like the glam Hong Kong-esque Sweetea CaffeBKK Bistro & Bar that's like stepping into Bangkok, and DLLM Lok Lok, a JB-style stall with $1/stick lok lok.

But finding places to remind you of quiet, rural areas in say, somewhere in Europe, is a lot trickier! A lesser known Insta-worthy gem you can visit to soak in English countryside vibes in Singapore is St. George's Church.

Located in the middle of a greenscape at Minden road, St. George's Church is probably the closest thing to a photo op in England we can get.

The national monument dates back to the 1910s when it was built to accommodate soldiers and officers of the British military garrison. After the withdrawal of British Army troops in 1971, St George's took on a new role as a civilian church.

Designed by British architect William Henry Stanbury, the imposing building follows the style of classical Romanesque architecture with a squat, compact shape and an absence of a tower or spire.

The vibrant red bricks and white timber louvres make for a striking photo backdrop while the English-style garden-scaping makes the church look like a quaint cottage.

Admittedly, the location is a little ulu to travel to just for a few photos, but there are plenty of activities nearby to plan a solid itinerary. After your photoshoot, take a break at one of the next door cafes, Open Farm Community and Tiong Bahru Bakery. After that, visit the Museum of Ice Cream located just a 9-minute walk away for even more content for the 'gram, explore Singapore Botanic Gardens or take a stroll along the trendy Dempsey Hill.

If you're heading there to take photos, take note to do so respectfully and quietly as it is an actual church with churchgoers!
