Since it started airing on June 18,《Legend Of Fu Yao》 has been topping TV ratings in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan and to be honest, we are not surprised because of its star studded cast and A+ plot. We are only upset that Singaporeans are not giving it enough support! It can't mean that no one here watches C-dramas, right? WE DON'T BELIEVE.

Here's 5 reasons you should ditch your K-dramas and start watching this drama now!

 1. A-list actors

Those who watched Eternal Love 三生三世十里桃花 would definitely recognise our main lead Yang Mi 杨幂. If you don't recognise her, just know that she is the lead actress of China's most watched drama (more than 50 billion views) ever in history!

This time, she's paired with Taiwan's Ethan Juan 阮经天 who starred in the critical acclaim Fated To Love You 命中注定我爱你 and we are loving their chemistry!pao1

2. No exaggerated CGI (we swear by it!)

China's wuxia or xianxia dramas always include crazy CGI that makes everything look funnier than it really is but we think the visual effects team behind《Legend Of Fu Yao》did a great job!

Though not perfect, most scenes look realistic and doesn't seem out of the world. #goodjob #watchlewontcringe

3. A+ plot with legit fight scenes

Yang Mi's acting and fighting skills really gets better with time. Aside from that, we also love the bromance between or Crown Prince and Divine Physician Zong Yue~

This drama basically revolves around the life of Fu Yao that takes place during the period of the Five Kingdoms, with Tianquan Kingdom at the helm.

Born with a 5-tier curse that's tied to the Five Kingdoms, Fu Yao have to travel across the Kingdoms for five magical artefacts to lift her curse. If it's not lifted in time, she could be the answer to the Five Kingdom's doom. Along the way, she met Crown Prince Wu Ji, a disciple of Qiongcang whose real mission is to quell the impending doom in the Five Kingdoms including killing Fu Yao but guess what... they fell in love. Damn.

4. It shows that women could be great fighters too!

Though Fu Yao was (*incoming spoiler*) born and raised lowly, she never belittled herself. She worked hard to learn how to fight and never spent a day idling away. Thanks to her hard work (and talent), we saw her subdue quite a number of arrogant chaps :P

Ya Lan Zhu is another character we would give up our life for any day! Where else can we find such a dedicated and loyal girl who would *spoiler ahead* sacrifice her eyes for the love of her life? She even went against her father, left her kingdom and travelled the world with him to ensure that he's always safe.

5. It is educational and promotes strong moral values that we can't find in other dramas these days

Fuyao Yang Mi

Fu Yao is a woman who believes in equality and her loyalty and strong sense of justice is probably what won everyone's hearts in this series.

Even when hope seems non-existent in society and the future bleak, she still believed that everyone has the right to decide what they want to do and how they want to live. No one else gets to make the choice for us.

With this story set in China, we got to see a lot of traditional moral values like filial piety, loyalty, patriotism strongly depicted. One of the more touching scenes for us is definitely when the soldiers had to fight against their righteous Prince because their King said so. Even to the death, they pledge allegiance to the Prince but because of the royal edict, they have to defend the city gates. Sad!

Where the throne sits, there would always be a power struggle.

In a series where there's five Kingdoms, how would it be like? Find out yourself!
