Has severe RBF but is fairly jolly and carefree on the inside. Degree of life satisfaction is heavily influenced by food.

Those with acne-prone skin will be all too familiar with that never-ending cycle. When breakouts form, we use treatments that are effective but also can have a harsh drying effect. The weakened skin becomes prone to sensitivity and makes it easier for acne-causing bacteria to penetrate the skin. This in turn triggers more acne, redness and inflammation.

Bioderma has launched a new moisturiser, Sebium Sensitive, with a gentle yet effective acne-soothing formula that might just put an end to this cycle.

To find out if it does, we've gathered five GirlStyle Singapore readers with acne-prone skin to put this moisturiser to the test.

Sebium Sensitive is the latest addition to Bioderma's Sebium range of skincare for oily, acne-prone skin. The cult-favourite French dermatological brand is known for their skincare products that respect the skin ecosystem and are suited for sensitive skin, and this soothing acne moisturiser is no exception.

While it helps to prevent new blemishes from forming, more importantly, it also provides intense hydration and soothes redness and inflammation from existing inflamed acne. It's gentle enough even for sensitive skin and is also ideal for those with maskne, the acne breakouts from wearing a mask.

Inflastop complex™ relieves inflamed spots and redness that could otherwise cause marks, while a high concentration of glycerin keeps the skin hydrated all day. The combination of Bakuchiol and Fluidactiv™ technology helps rebalance sebum while mattifying powders and zinc gluconate keep the skin shine-free.

The result is more resilient skin that looks less oily and has a more even texture and tone, with less blemishes over time.

Five GirlStyle Singapore readers were eager to find out if this moisturiser would put an end to their skin once and for all. And so, they tested the Bioderma Sebium Sensitive for two weeks and tracked the results. For the best efficacy, they completed their three-step skincare routine with the accompanying Bioderma Sebium range cleanser and lotion:

Skin type: combination oily
Skin concerns: uneven skin tone, acne & enlarged pores

"I love the texture of this moisturiser and how it turns into a powdery finish once it's applied evenly. My skin became much smoother especially when combined with the toner and cleanser. During the second week, I had a hormonal acne breakout as I usually do during my period, but this moisturiser helped calm the redness and my acne was less inflamed than usual."

Skin type: combination oily & dry
Skin concerns: dullness, dehydration & acne

"The texture of the moisturiser is lightweight and the finish is matte, but it does take a while to sink into the skin (about 10 minutes). It reduces the redness of my pimples and controls how much sebum is produced throughout the day, thus making less pimples form at my usual maskne areas. It also has a hydrating feeling that lasts the whole day. At the end of two weeks, the texture of my skin is much smoother and less oily."

Skin type: combination oily & sensitive
Skin concerns: dullness, dehydration & acne

"The Sebium Sensitive moisturiser is lightweight on the skin and creates a matte finish. I love how the moisturiser feels hydrating for the next couple of hours and it certainly helps reduce redness from inflamed acne. After using the three products, I noticed that the skin feels a lot smoother and there is less reoccurrence of pimples forming."

Skin type: combination oily & sensitive
Skin concerns: blackheads/whiteheads & acne

"The gel cleanser glides across my skin effortlessly and leaves it feeling hydrated. The toner was cooling and felt really refreshing, and when paired with the moisturiser, my skin felt completely oil free until near the evening. The moisturiser is lightweight and gives the skin a subtle sheen. It absorbs into the skin fairly quickly and I don't feel it sitting on the skin.

The only thing I noticed about the whole package was that it had a sweet scent, which I'm not used to. However, I hardly noticed it after the initial application. Overall, I enjoyed this range of products and it helped soothe and reduce the inflammation on my skin."

Skin type: combination oily
Skin concerns: uneven skin tone, blackheads/whiteheads & acne

"The cleanser has a gentle formula but contains some fragrance. It does not irritate the skin or have the squeaky clean feeling after washing off. The toner has a fresh scent and cooling sensation. It's lightweight and absorbs into the skin quickly when I apply it with a cotton pad.

The moisturiser has a lightweight consistency and gets absorbed well into skin. I used it before my foundation and it was great for keeping my skin moisturised and also helped to control the shine on my face. I notice less oiliness on my face after a whole day out with makeup on compared to when I don't use this."

All five reviewers were very impressed with Bioderma's Sebium range, and would recommend Sebium Sensitive particularly for those with acne-prone skin. If you experience similar concerns as them like dehydration, sensitivity, acne and oiliness, this moisturiser might also be your holy grail to tackle all these skin woes at once.
