FreshKon x Naho: 5 Quick, Easy, & Natural-Looking Ways To Make Your Eyes Appear Bigger & Brighter
Your eyes are usually the first thing people notice when they meet you, and this is especially so now that we have masks covering the rest of our faces a majority of the time. While our eyes come in all shapes and sizes that are beautiful in their own way, many of us Asian gals can’t help but wish for our peepers to be larger. After all, big eyes often make one appear sharper, friendlier, and more confident.
Here are some quick and natural-looking ways to make your eyes look bigger and brighter. You’ll be on your way to achieving dreamy anime-like eyes, with minimal effort required!
Read on for tips on how to make your eyes look bigger!
#1: Apply eyeshadow in a vertical gradient, with the darkest shade along your upper lash

If you grew up watching beauty YouTubers like Bethany Mota and NikkiTutorials, you would probably have learnt to apply eyeshadow in a gradient, with the lightest shade in the inner corner and the darkest at the outer corners.
While that may work well for Western features, it isn’t always the case for Asian eyes. In fact, doing your eyeshadow this way might elongate your eyes horizontally, resulting in them appearing smaller.
Instead of that, use a vertical gradient. Work your way up from your upper lash line, starting with the darkest colour, gradually blending and fading to a more neutral shade as you reach your brow bone. This will let your eyes look rounder and more awake!
#2: Highlight your tear duct area with a pale sparkly colour

A makeup technique popular in Japan and Korea is to line the lower lash line and/or inner corners of your eyes with a pale colour. This can either be in the form of eyeliner, or eyeshadow applied with a thin brush - whichever you’re more comfortable with. You don’t just have to limit yourself to white - other shades like sparkly nude or pink also work well! This brings about a bright and almost teary, doe-eyed look, which the Koreans refer to as aegyo sal.
#3: Curl lashes well before applying mascara

Having long lashes is one thing, but to make those peepers really pop, you’ll want your lashes to be well-curled - whether they are all-natural, falsies, or extensions. While mascara alone may be able to give your eyelashes a little push, curling them beforehand makes a whole lot of difference in giving them extra oomph.
If you find this step a hassle to go through every morning, you could even consider a lash lift - i.e. a “perm” for your eyelashes.
#4: Pluck away stray eyebrow hairs to open up your eyelid area

Strong brow game = strong eye game. Other than making sure your brows are properly filled, you’ll also want to pluck away any stray hairs above your eyelids to “open up” the space that you can work with. Extending this space will give the illusion of larger and wider eyes.
#5: Wear eye-enhancing contact lenses

Such is the magic of colored contact lenses - they not only let you see clearly without you having to be unglam with glasses, but also help further enhance your looks naturally or alter the color of your iris. Brown one day, and blue the next? No biggie! Usually, these also make your pupils appear bigger as the diameter of the coloured portions are just a tad wider than them.
Eye-enhancing contact lenses don’t necessarily have to look unnatural. There are many brands out there with coloured contacts suitable for daily wear, and one of them is FreshKon - a longstanding favourite that needs no introduction.
