Established in 2013, thepigbakesclay is a local handmade accessory brand that has gained a loyal following amongst miniature enthusiasts. Their jewellery features miniature food that look awfully realistic, from local Singaporean snacks like fancy gem biscuits, nonya kueh and potong ice-creams, to well-loved treats like macarons and rainbow cakes.
The latest product launch is the Durian In Dapao Box earrings ($30 - $32) and the Internet is fawning over it.
Made from PREMO Polymer Clay, these adorable miniature durian in dabao box figures are set on titanium nickel-free studs that are suitable for sensitive ears.
Durian connoisseurs will appreciate that thepigbakesclay knows their durian types. The earrings don't just depict any generic durian, they come in four types: Mao Shan Wang, Black Gold, Red Prawn and Golden Phoenix.
Each earring type looks just like their irl equivalent. The Red Prawn earrings have a reddish tint, Golden Phoenix has a yellow-green hue, Black Gold has a grey undertone and Mao Shan Wang has that signature warm yellow colour.
The "styrofoam takeaway box" measures 2.5cm across which makes these statement earrings that will certainly be noticed. This is what the earrings look like when worn:
These earrings sold out within a few hours of its launch but will restocked in June and be available as preorders in late May.
You can customise it in a variety of ways including the type of accessory: studs, brooch, necklace, badge or magnet. Or you can flex your copywriting skills and request for a custom message to be scribbled on the box.
