Singaporeans are spoilt for choice when it comes to Instagrammable cafes, but there's a new one that you might want to bump up on your cafe-hopping list: A Beautiful Day.

Located at Changi City Point, A Beautiful Day is a cafe and bar that aims to provide an aesthetic haven to relax in all day long.

Stepping past the cafe's floral entrance, we were greeted by calming Bali-style interior with natural materials, greenery and white curtains. Dim lighting and jazz renditions of pop songs playing in the background cemented the relaxing experience.

Connected to this main dining area are two sections designed for lounging with drinks and photo taking.

One looks like it could be a music video location for a K-pop girl group with an overload of pink. Everything from the panelled walls, velvet furniture and flower-filled telephone booth is pink. Even the houseplants are completely pink!

The other lounge area looks like a bohemian, Bali-style resort with cosy, homey vibes. We loved being surrounded by all the charming decor like the mismatched prints, contrasting textures and knick knacks decorating the walls.

The cafe's interior decorator has a background in the bridal industry which explains the romantic ambience and photo-ready backdrops at every corner. Everything is so aesthetically pleasing, even the napkins are placed in golden pouches and water is served in Victorian-esque patterned glasses.

There's also a pet-friendly alfresco dining area decorated with hanging lights.

Considering the stunning decor, the food and drinks aren't as pricey as we expected. On the dinner menu, mains and pastas start at $15.90, kebabs at $10.90 and pizzas at $17.90. There's also no GST, but service charge still applies.

Being mala addicts, we went for two of their three mala dishes, Mala Popcorn Chicken ($13.90) and Mala Pork Belly ($12.90). Both of them had a xiao la level of spiciness which gave the right amount of kick without overwhelming our taste buds before we tried the other dishes.

We give an A+ to the pork. It was like mala xiang guo, but a less oily and more elevated version. The popcorn chicken was everything we wanted in fried chicken, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside with an addictive mala flavour.

Next, we had their Spam Fries ($9.90) which came with a house-made peri peri sauce. The moderately spicy sauce was packed with flavour and had a subtle sweetness which balanced out the saltiness of the deep fried spam. The Thai-Style Quinoa ($9.90) from the lunch menu, however, isn't something we'd order again. While it has an interesting sweet-sour touch that reminded us of Thai salad, it was a tad too dry for our liking.

For mains, we went with their signature Peri Peri Chicken ($19.90) which is a roast half spring chicken served with salad and the same peri peri sauce. Roast chicken seems to be one of the dishes that cafes struggle to get right, but this one was surprisingly quite tender and flavourful enough on its own.

Moving on to desserts, we went for their gorgeous Pink Sugar's Bandung Soufflé Pancake ($17.90). This is a must-try for bandung lovers and those who love a photo-worthy dish. Served on a pink plate with berries, powdered sugar and rose petals, the two jiggly pancakes are covered in pink bandung-flavoured cream.

If you've declared yourself a non-fan of soufflé pancakes because of their strong eggy taste, this one could convert you. The pancakes have a very delicate egginess that's almost like an aftertaste. They also have an airy, melt-in-your-mouth texture similar to soufflé pancakes from Japanese cafes like Flipper's.

That said, we weren't fans of the bandung cream's foam-like consistency. It had a distinct bandung taste which paired well with the pancakes, but we would have preferred a creamier and richer texture. The cafe is constantly revamping their recipe so we have hopes that it'll improve in the future.

The beverage menu at A Beautiful Day cafe is pretty extensive, with red and white wine, beers, spirits and non-alcoholic drinks. We went with Whispering Angel 2019 ($79) rosé and the beautiful Red Velvet Latte ($7/$8).

Served on a pink teacup and saucer, this drink actually lived up to its aesthetics. It had a rich chocolatey base and red velvet topping that wasn't too sweet.

A Beautiful Day cafe is definitely worth a revisit. IG-factor and ambience aside, the cafe offers quality food and drinks that are reasonably priced. The menu items we would reorder are the mala dishes, red velvet latte and Whispering Angel rosé. We would also try their other soufflé pancakes like the Original Flavour ($9.90) which is pretty value-for-money. Perhaps the only downside of this cafe is that it's a little out of the way unless you live in the East.

You can find the cafe at The Oasis, an outdoor section of Changi City Point near Jolibee.
