Congratulations, friends - we’ve made it to the second quarter of the year, which means our 2021 adventure is 25% complete. As we kick off this month with a public holiday, it’s a good chance to refresh your spirits with some fun new activities - and our list of 17 things to do in April is sure to have you covered.
This month’s list includes an Uncle Ringo carnival, McDonald’s-themed staycation, and Singapore’s first-ever indoor go-karting circuit, with a tiki theme to boot.

#1: Lose yourself in the different mazes in Singapore, including a hedge maze

It’s time to get lost - in one of the many mazes in Singapore, that is! Use your wits and challenge yourself to work your way through the labyrinths of a hedge maze, mirror maze, and even a lesser-known rooftop concrete maze located right in the heart of town.

#2: Race through Singapore’s first indoor karting circuit with tiki theme at RWS

Singapore’s very first indoor go-kart circuit is opening at Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) as a limited-time Circuit Tiki pop-up, which you can race through both rain or shine - a real blessing given our erratic weather these days. Set up by KF1 Karting Circuit, this 550-metre track comes with a cute Hawaiian tiki theme and neon lights to amp up the excitement!

Anyone is welcome, so long as you’re above 1.4m tall, arrive in covered shoes, and agree to put on the hair nets and helmets provided. Beginners can go on the Novice karts at 25km/h, while those with valid driving licences can take on the Advanced ones at a speedier 40km/h.

#3: Paint till 2am at late-night art jamming studio, T-Art Studio

Turns out, late-night activities that don’t involve clubs and bars do exist. Night owls seeking a round of wholesome fun can go wild with a paintbrush at T-Art Studio, a new art jamming spot that opens till as late as 3am (last session ends at 2.15am).

Each painting session lasts 3 hours, with all art tools and 12 colours of acrylic paint provided. You’ll even get a book lamp clipped onto your easel for better visibility during the night!

#4: Get soaked in water gun battles at Wild Wild Wet’s Songkran Water Festival 2021

While revelling in Songkran festivities in the Land of Smiles isn’t possible this year, Wild Wild Wet is bringing the party to Singapore’s shores with their own Songkran Water Festival 2021. Celebrated as part of Thai New Year, this Thai festival typically involves the splashing of water using buckets, water balloons, and water guns.

Speaking of water guns - gear up for an exhilarating shootout with other patrons and the waterpark’s own roving talents, and prepare to get 100% soaked! You’ll have to bring your own weapon of choice, so if you don’t already have a water gun, make a quick pit stop at Toys ‘R’ Us to get yourself equipped.

Staying true to the Thai origins of the festival, there will be Thai Milk Tea and other traditional Thai snacks up for sale, as well as Thailand-themed photo ops and decor scattered across the premises.

#5: Hunt for fashion gems at luxury vintage store, Vintage by Née Collective

Vintage by Née Collective is a new vintage luxury store that sources its pieces from Japan, with handbags and accessories from high-end brands like Louis Vuitton, Chanel, and Balenciaga. As many of these items are out of production, expect to uncover rare finds that you otherwise wouldn’t be able to purchase!

#7: Snap selfies in a vintage photo booth for just $4

Remember those good old days of Neoprints? Well, those are sadly long gone, with Singapore’s last-surviving machines having vanished a couple of years ago. But you can still somewhat relive that experience with Fotoautomat Singapore’s vintage photo booth at Golden Mile - also said to be Singapore’s only analogue dip and dunk chemical photo booth, where your photo strip goes through a couple of washes in the machine before being printed out.

#9: Drop by Botanic Gardens’ new extension with colonial houses and hiking trail

The Singapore Botanic Gardens just got bigger and better. Dubbed the Gallop Extension, this new zone of the sprawling park has two new galleries houses in grand colonial buildings: The Forest Discovery Centre, an arboretum with rare dipterocarps (a type of rainforest tree), and the Botanical Art Gallery, with nature-related artwork in different mediums like sketches, watercolour, and linework.

That aside are also new outdoor attractions like an Adventure Grove with fruit-themed play structures, and a hiking trail lined with critically endangered trees.

#10: Visit Uncle Ringo’s latest carnival at Punggol, with new dragon & dinosaur park

No thanks to pandemic restrictions, it’s been a while since we’ve visited any funfairs, but Uncle Ringo is finally back in the game with their carnival rides and games! They’ve set up camp at a vast open area at Punggol, with all the classics like a pirate ship, ferris wheel, and carousel.

Little ones needn’t feel left out - it’s a family-friendly environment with rides suitable for kids as well. Of course, claw machines will also be part of the deal, so go on and win as many plushies as your luck will allow!

#11: Go crazy over 3-metre tall candy machines at the Hershey’s pop-up

Calling all chocoholics! A Hershey’s pop-up has just landed at Changi Airport, modelled after the famous Hershey’s Chocolate World store in New York City’s Time Square, and with it comes giant 3-metre candy machines filled to the brim with different flavours of chocolate - including new Changi exclusives like yogurt and strawberry-filled Kisses.
