16 Things To Do In March 2021 For Dates With Bae & Outings With Your Friend Squad
Right now, many of us are still shaking off that post-CNY holiday mood...and weight gain. #1: Interact with AR murals at Moo Moo Park, Singapore’s first drive-through exhibition

If you’re one of those people who don’t like getting off your bum but don’t want the FOMO, cruise through Moo Moo PARK, Asia’s first drive-through exhibition, all while seated in a chauffeured electric car. Marrying art and technology, this pop-up features interactive AR murals, selfie filters, and 3D installations, in a celebration of the lunar year of the ox.

#2: Learn more about cameras at the Vintage Camera Museum

Revel in the glow of neon lights as you make your way through Lite On!, an exhibition of illuminated art installations at Downtown East. You may have already seen Shades of Self by local art collection Spake Objekt on your Instagram feed - a rainbow tunnel that’s bathed in rainbow hues.

It’s a futuristic runway-like spectacle at night, but during the day, it takes on a soft pastel shade, making a perfect backdrop for a unique and dreamy pre-wedding photoshoot!
Other installations you can look forward to include a rainbow staircase full of bubble wrap, and a geometric “cave” that glows blue.

#4: Check out Yayoi Kusama’s new mirrored installations and monochrome artwork

If you went for Yayoi Kusama’s previous exhibition, Life Is the Heart of a Rainbow a couple of years ago, you’d remember it to be a kaleidoscopic wonderland of colourful dots. The eccentric Japanese artist’s quirky works are back in Singapore once again, but this time, they sing a different tune in monochromes.

Simply titled Yayoi Kusama: Recent Paintings, this limited-time free-entry exhibition at Gillman Barracks features “Clouds”, a mirrored floor installation of stainless steel blobs - one of the main highlights.

Other than that, there are also 15 black and white paintings by the artist that depict themes like love, death, relationships, and her relationship with life in general. Despite having no colour, the paintings are very much alive with emotion.

#5: Pretend you’re in Japan at GBTB’s Hello Kitty-themed Sakura Matsuri 2021

It’s yet another month of being stuck in Singapore, with travel plans nowhere in sight, but there are still ways to experience a “vacation” while in this sunny island - such as Gardens by the Bay’s annual Sakura Matsuri.

As with every year, the Flower Dome will be blooming with cherry blossom trees from Japan, but this time, there will be an added element of cute with a Hello Kitty theme! There will also be a furoshiki display where the art of Japanese fabric wrapping will be demonstrated alongside a picnic spread.

#6: Snap photos in a fairy light tunnel, pink house, and under an ethereal tree

Transport yourself into a real-life cartoon with Otah & Friends, an adorable otter-themed exhibition cum mini escape room game at Gardens by the Bay. Meant to look like Otah the otter’s house, the bright pink attraction has now been extended till 4th April, with new additions to boot.

One of these new photogenic zones include a fairy light tunnel that’ll make you look like you’re tumbling through outer space, Another hot photo spot is the ethereal lemon tree with an iridescent blue canopy.

#7: Catch the “Stand By Me Doraemon 2” movie in cinemas

We know that many of you are fans of Doraemon, having grown up watching the cartoon series. 7 years after the first Stand By Me Doraemon movie in 2014, the film now has a sequel where a grief-stricken Nobita goes back in time to meet his deceased grandmother. At the same time, future Nobita who’s about to get married to his girlfriend Shizuka starts worrying about whether she’s the right partner for him.
