Doraemon Department Store In Tokyo, Japan Is Like A Mini Theme Park With Games & Photo Ops
When we eventually get to travel to Japan again, there'll be a never-ending list of things to do! Some of the new attractions we're looking forward to are the cafe with life-like penguin-owl robots in Kawasaki, Sumikko Gurashi cafe in Kyoto, and Osaka's Super Nintendo World and Sylvanian Families Theme Park.
Adding to that list is the Doraemon Future Department Store in Tokyo which just opened in July 2020!

Located in DiverCity Tokyo Plaza, Doraemon Future Department Store is the world's first official Doraemon store and it has set the bar high.
Right outside the plaza is Doraemon Times Square, a large structure made of screens and a mechanical clock with life-sized figures of Doraemon, Nobita and Shizuka sitting on benches. Besides being a photo spot, it also screens a little show every hour with the anime's theme song and the secret gadgets.

The store exterior screams Doraemon right away with a large cut-out of his face and a Doraemon figure welcoming you in. It has a quaint European cottage-style interior design with brick walls and wooden furniture.

The store sells over 200 pieces of original Doraemon Future Department Store merchandise including Doraemon's secret gadgets, decor items, etc.

There's also a customisation station that offers custom embroidery of Doraemon characters and letters, and a post office where you can send Doraemon-themed letters to your loved ones.

The department store also has a mini theme park-esque area with games and interactive displays. You'll need to purchase coins to participate in these attractions.
This cute pink door is Doraemon's Anywhere Door. Behind it is an interactive screen that will take you wherever you want.

There are also games like the Take-copter where you'll "fly" in the sky like Doraemon, Air Cannon where you'll shoot targets, and Baybayin, a cute Dorayaki-themed game.
