New Molang X Kumoya Pop-Up Cafe In Singapore Is A Pastel Wonderland With Cute Food & Drinks

Kumoya has done it again! Following adorable pop-up cafes featuring characters like Little Twin Stars, Rilakkuma and Gudetama, there will be a new Molang-themed Kumoya cafe in Singapore.

Created by South Korean illustrator Hye-Ji Yoon and French animation studio Millimages, Molang is a fluffy bunny that speaks Molangese, a universal language.

From next Thursday, 18 February 2021, Kumoya Cafe will be transformed into a cosy Molang paradise. The interiors will be decked out in dreamy pastel decor with Molang and bff Piu Piu, a cute yellow chick.

Each table comes with one or two Molang plush toys to keep you company and cute-tify your photos even more than the decor and food does.

As expected with Kumoya Cafe collabs, the menu will also be totally Molang-ified. The kawaii food line-up includes four mains, four desserts, eight snacks and ten beverages that created by local food artist Shirley Wong, aka littlemissbento, and the Kumoya kitchen crew.

The cafe isn't halal-certified, but all of the menu offerings contain no pork, lard or alcohol and are prepared by a team of Muslim staff.

We started with the most IG-worthy main dish in the menu, Nighty-nite Sleep Tight Chicken Katsu Curry rice ($25.90). The sleeping Molang under a crepe "blanket" looked too cute to destroy!

To our pleasant surprise, this dish scored on taste just as much as aesthetics. The thin slices of chicken katsu was perfectly fried with a crispy texture and the curry was rich and flavourful.

Craving more fried food, we tried the BFF Salmon I Love You Burger ($23.90). The buns were a little too plain for our liking, but the thick fried salmon patty topped with cheese and tobiko mayo made up for it.

The unexpected highlight of this dish was the crispy curly fries similar to McDonald's Twister Fries which we promptly gobbled up.

The other two mains are Up, Up And Away Happy Creamy Salmon Rice ($23.90) and Friendship-is-love Carona Cream Pasta ($19.90).

Save some space for dessert cos they look too Instagrammable to pass up! We managed to squeeze some space for the Love is in the Air Mango Berries Churros Fondue (S$24.90) served with fruit, ice cream and chocolate dip. The thicc churros were a little undercooked but still satisfying, especially when paired with the chocolate dip that's kept warm in a fondue pot.

We always look forward to Kumoya's cookies and this Molang & Piu Piu one was just as buttery and fragrant as expected.

Curiously, some of the churros are made of pink dough which was a nice surprise. It's only for aesthetic purposes, though, as it tastes identical to the regular churros.

The other desserts on the menu are the Huggy Hugs Mango Berries Shibuya Toast ($24.90), Happy Sunny day Mango Berries Cake Jar ($14.90) and Love on Cloud 9 Mango Strawberry Parfait ($20.90).

Their snacks are served in cute pink boxes featuring Molang. Choose from curry fries, karaage, nacho fries, sweet potato fries, truffle fries and takoyaki fries ($12.90 - $13.90).

There's a variety of adorable drinks ($10.90 - $13.90) to complete your meal, including one that looks like Molang or Piu Piu is floating in a cloud and taking a sneaky sip of your drink!
