This February is both the season of love and prosperity, with Valentine’s Day and Chinese New Year both falling a couple of days from each other. #1: Visit Time Capsule, an IG-worthy time travel attraction at Singapore Flyer

The Singapore Flyer’s newest attraction, Time Capsule, is a multisensory time travel-themed exhibition that will take you through Singapore’s history before diving into its future. Apart from a mini light and sound show in a mirrored room, there will also be kaleidoscopic projections featuring Singapore’s unique snacks, and a chance to be swept “underwater” with fishes.

#2: Take your furkid to Wag & Wild, the largest dog swimming pool in Singapore

Your furkid can easily get its dose of exercise with daily walks around the block, but we bet even animals need some spice in their usual routines. Make your paw pal’s day with a fun excursion at Wag & Wild, the largest dog swimming pool in Singapore that recently opened around 6 months ago.

Simple obstacles and mushroom fountains have been constructed as part of the pool for added fun. You are fully encouraged to enter the water and paddle around with your pup, so dive on in and have a splashing good time with your best friend!

#3: Be wowed by The Mill, an all-black gothic tower with garden and Victorian-style cafe

Just looking at photos of The Mill, a foreboding, all-black gothic building at Bukit Merah, it’s hard to believe that it exists in Singapore; The towering structure looks like something you’d find in Europe instead, with ornate arches, spiked details on its roof, and a romantic-looking garden courtyard.

This is actually an office building - just imagine reporting to work here! - and they’re also home to a Victorian-style cafe which is open to the public.

#4: Drop by Chio Books, an edgy bookstore with LED furniture and sinks as tables

Chio Books has got to be the edgiest bookstore in Singapore right now - with glowing LED furniture, artsy wall portraits, and old sinks repurposed as book displays, they’ve got their aesthetics down pat.

But it’s not just about the decor, because they also have a unique selection of hardbacks and paperbacks for you to pore over - everything from children’s titles with embossed covers, morbid nursery rhymes, and even a cheeky Spot The C*ck search-and-find book. We shan’t elaborate on that last one, but this just gives you more incentive to head down in person to see what the fuss is all about. ;)

#6: Admire adorable animal lanterns at Chinatown’s CNY light-up

Despite a scaled-down Chinese New Year this 2021, Chinatown has still come through with their annual CNY light-up. Rows upon rows of lanterns are already illuminating the streets, some with auspicious wordings and others with festive motifs like Mandarin oranges, but the ones that’ve caught our eye the most are the adorably round animal ones featuring all critters of the zodiac!

As it’s the year of the Metal Ox, you can also expect a bunch of ox-themed installations amidst the cherry blossom sculptures and lucky red lanterns. The centrepiece is a massive 10-metre ox standing atop a pile of gold coins - a symbol of prosperity for the year ahead!

#7: Watch rainbow-hued lights illuminate Siloso Beach with Magical Shores

Magical Shores first debuted at Sentosa’s SIloso Beach early last year, but quickly came to a halt once Covid-19 restrictions kicked in not too long after. They’re finally back with their nightly light and sound show, which involves rainbow-hued illuminations dancing across the sand by the waters as relaxing music plays.

Be spellbound as the interactive light art projections shift from psychedelic wave patterns to shoals of fish - a dazzling spectacle that’s perfect for ending off a date with!

#8: Have a Valentine’s Day meal at a new romantic restaurant or cafe

Gardens by the Bay’s Christmas Wonderland has made way for Dahlia Dreams, the annual Chinese New Year setup in the Flower Dome. This year’s 1,4000 dahlias in vibrant shades of red are all grown in-house by GBTB’s horticulturists for the first time, and some species are as large as dinner plates!
