Capitol Theatre Has Glamping Movie Night Picnics & Staycations With Festive Treats Till End 2020

After getting us all enraptured with a free dome dining experience and snowfall sessions as part of their Christmas celebrations, Capitol Singapore is here to add on to the festivities with glamping movie night picnics and staycations within the grand Capitol Theatre itself. This experience is currently open for booking on Klook and will be running till 31 December 2020.

While live concerts and shows have only just been given the green light to resume post-Circuit Breaker, the local theatre scene is still relatively quiet, with performance venues still having a lack of programmes. Capitol Theatre has thus gotten creative by turning their grand concert hall into a temporary glamping ground for picnics and overnight staycation experiences.

Unlike with regular glamping experiences, the best part of the one at Capitol is that you’ll be indoors, in the comfort of aircon - similar to the new glamping site at Jewel Changi - so you won’t have to worry about hot weather or sudden downpours marring your stay.

Set up by local glamping company, Glamping Society, the staycation tents for a maximum of 5 people will come with mattresses, pillows, and blankets so your stay will be of tip-top comfort. Topping that off is festive decor like Christmas wreaths and fairy lights.

Each Glamping Tent Movie Night package at Capitol comprises of the following:

5 movie passes
5 festive treats from Capitol Kempinski
10% off restaurants at The Arcade at Capitol Kempinski

The overnight movie sessions will last from 6.30pm to 9am the following morning, so be prepared for a long night ahead!

You will be watching two movies in the same night. Titles screened will depend on the date of your stay:

24 - 25 December: Grinch and Last Christmas
26 - 31 December: Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and Despicable Me 3

Prefer spending the night in your own bed? Opt for the Glam Picnic Movie Night instead, which will run from 6.30pm to 10.30pm with similar perks but no overnight stay. This, too, is for a maximum squad of 5 people.

Do note that apart from the Festive Treats, food and drinks will not be provided for either package, so you will have to purchase your own. You can simply order takeaway meals at any of the cafes and restaurants in the vicinity!

Complimentary board games will be available for rental to those who book the staycation package.

On top of that, everything will be lit up in the glow of purple lights during the night, adding a mysterious and romantic touch to the whole ambience.

Capitol Theatre’s Glam Picnic Movie Night is priced at $200 while the Glamping Tent Movie Night is priced at $330. Split that among 5 people and you’ll be paying just $40 per person and $66 per person respectively - that’s much cheaper than plenty of boutique hotel rates!

You will have to bring along your own towels and toiletries should you wish to freshen up during your overnight glamping session. It would also be a good idea to bring a powerbank so you can charge your phone and other devices if need be.
