Who says you need a cafe setting to have a cafe experience? SweeT.Rex proves that taste beats ambience as it's actually a hawker centre stall in Alexandra Village Food Centre.

Even though there's no air conditioning, fancy decor or minimalist aesthetic, the cafe vibes set in once the soufflé pancakes are at your table.

Their Japanese-style soufflé pancakes are priced at just $4 for two, so each pancake costs just $2! Toppings include maple syrup and chocolate.

You can also opt to have soufflé pancakes with a scoop of ice cream for $5.

Don't let the prices fool you, the quality of SweeT.Rex's soufflé pancakes is pretty comparable to that of Japanese pancake cafes. Although their pancakes aren't quite as rich as their cafe counterpart, they have an irresistible buttery flavour that isn't too sweet. They also got the texture down pat! Each pancake is perfectly jiggly with a fluffy, light texture that melts in the mouth.

This weekend-only stall's pancakes are freshly made to order, so expect a wait on top of the queue time. We recommend ordering the pancakes when you first arrive so you can have your lunch or dinner from the other stalls in the hawker centre while waiting. Your pancakes should be ready soon after you've finished your meal!

Besides soufflé pancakes, they also offer handmade nougats, milk pudding (Thai milk tea, chocolate and matcha) and cheesecakes in variety of flavours like chocolate and strawberry.
