New Light Show At Marina Bay Has 60 Light Beams Shooting Straight Into The Sky, Till End Dec 2020
Missed out on Marina Bay Sands’ 10th anniversary light show? Don’t despair, because a brand new spectacle has taken its place almost immediately, and will be happening nightly all the way till 31 December 2020.
Titled “Shine a Light”, this new light show at Marina Bay features 60 light beams shooting straight up into the sky, and is part of the Marina Bay Countdown that will usher in the upcoming new year.

Shine a Light will be happening at The Promontory at Marina Bay from 1 December 2020. This 3-minute display will be happening in 15-minute intervals from 8pm to 10.30pm every night, though this timing will be extended to 11.45pm on New Year’s Eve, 31 December.

Arranged in a circular formation, the 60 light beams that will be projected into the sky are meant to represent the notches on a clock face as we count down to welcome 2021.

Concurrently, the shining light is also supposed to act as a beacon of hope for a better year ahead as we continue fighting pandemic.

From afar, the circle of light might look like part of an alien invasion out of a sci-fi movie, especially to the uninformed - but let’s pray that never happens. 2020 has been harrowing enough!

If you’re having a staycation at one of the hotels in the vicinity, you will probably be able to spot the light show from your room if it faces the waters - lucky you! Office slaves OT-ing in the skyscrapers nearby would also be able to catch this sight from their workplaces.
