Kumoya Singapore has done it again. After a successful run with their Gudetama x Bad Badtz-Maru pop-up, and the recent opening of their semi-permanent Rilakkuma Cafe at Orchard, they’re having yet another Sanrio-themed collaboration in a new Little Twin Stars pop-up cafe.

It is already expected by now that Kumoya will go all out with the character-themed decor. Though the entrance may be small, it’ll be hard to miss with the entire glass door clad in decals featuring KiKi and LaLa.

This LIttle Twin Star cafe pop-up will have an Orchid Starry Dreamz concept, with lots of celestial imagery in soft, pastel colours that are easy on the eye.

The main colour scheme here is pink and blue to match the colours associated with the characters, and an in-between shade of purple - which incidentally fits the “orchid” aspect of the whole theme.

Puffy cotton clouds hang overhead, almost as though you’re dining way up high in the skies. “On cloud nine” in all senses of the phrase, we could say.

As usual, you can look forward to hearty Western mains with a slight Japanese twist, such as the Little Twin Stars Double-Double Sliders ($26.90) with a flame-torched salmon katsu patty and tobiko mayo, as well as the filling Little Twin Stars Magic Starry Breakfast ($26.90), which is essentially big breakfast.

There are two pasta options this time: KiKi Creamy Carbonara Pasta ($22.90) and LaLa Seafood Aglio-Olio Pasta ($23.90). Both are served with fresh garden salad to help offset all the carbiness.

Arguably the most adorable mains on the menu are the KiKi Tempura Salmon with Butterfly Pea Flower Cream Sauce and LaLa Chicken Karaage with Beetroot Cream Sauce, both $23.90 each.

With the help of the naturally-dyed sauce, these rice dishes are made to look like the faces of the star siblings. Seeing them smiling back at you is sure to brighten even the gloomiest of days!

Drinks are hardly the highlight of any regular restaurant, but at Kumoya’s themed set-ups, they are. Warm yourself up with the KiKi Hot Latte or LaLa Hot Chocolate ($10.90 each), which come with a dollop of whipped cream, sprinkles, and a character cookie.

There are also iced versions of the above at $11.90, with similar candy toppings.

If you’re one for the theatrics, go for the Lychee Yuzu Starry Galaxy Soda or Momo Apple Starry Galaxy Soda ($13.90 each). Get your camera ready, ‘cause these magical concoctions change colour and come surrounded in dry ice mist!

There are also the candy cotton-topped KiKi Fluffy Cloud Vanilla Frappe and LaLa Fluffy Cloud Strawberry Frappe ($13.90 each). Check out the cleverly done cloud details!

You’ll be glad to know that every drink comes with a free take-home coaster to remember the experience by.

Dessert is, of course, a must - that’s where Kumoya usually gets the most creative with their character-themed food styling. Don’t miss out on the Moonlight Dreamz Parfait ($19.90), an ethereal-looking mix of Hokkaido soft serve, cake, meringue clouds, crescent moon butter cookie, atop a bed of coloured cotton candy.

A dreamy take on the regular chocolate fondue set is the Starry Starz Sweet Pink Fondue ($24.90). Instead of regular chocolate, you’ll be given pink chocolate full of starry sprinkles, along with fresh fruits, marshmallows, character macarons, and of course, cotton candy.

For some hands-on fun, try the Magic Starz Galaxy Cake ($21.90), where you’ll get the opportunity to glaze your own strawberry mousse cake, complete with dry ice mist swirling out from the pot.

If you prefer something lighter to end your meal off with, there’s the Wish-Upon-A-Star Fluffy Chiffon Cake ($23.90), which comes with Hokkaido soft serve and berries.
