Since we can’t travel abroad, the next best thing to do would be to have a mini getaway on our own island. Staycations are now more popular than ever, especially with staycation deals such as 40% off at Mandarin Oriental with free meals. Luxury options aside, there are also affordable boutique hotels from just $100/night, so we’re not short of options no matter our budget.

For a more unique staycation experience, try Kampong Gelam’s new glamping experience instead of booking a regular hotel. It comes with a proper mattress and portable air-conditioning so you don’t have to worry about your comfort! Bookings are already open for dates ranging 15 to 24 December 2020.

They don’t call it glamping - aka glam camping - for nothing. There will be 2 tents set up for your session: One with two queen beds, and the other with a projector screen so you can stream movies. You’ll also be given a hammock and a couple of bean bags so you can chill outdoors and enjoy the fresh air.

Both tents come with portable air-con so you won’t have to sweat it out in the humidity. On top of that, the tents and their surroundings will be decorated with fairy lights and lamps that will create a romantic glow in the evening.

While you’re there, you can explore the colourful shophouses in the vicinity, and trawl through lanes like Arab Street and Haji Lane where lots of good food and quirky stores await.

There are 9 different packages for groups of up to 5 people, starting from $450 - supposing you gather the max amount of people, you’ll just have to pay $90/person! Bookings are already open and can be done here.
