Natural Totoro-Shaped Rock Formation Spotted In Forest In Aomori, Japan

Any Studio Ghibli fans? Adding to the list of My Neighbour Totoro-centric travel spots you can visit in Japan is a unique natural rock formation shaped like Totoro.

On the coast of Rokkasho Village in Aomori Prefecture, Japan, is a hole in rocks that measure about 8 metres high and 4 metres wide.

When viewed from about 10 meters away and at a certain angle, a sideways-facing Totoro silhouette appears. There's no mistaking his iconic ears and round tummy!

According to the Rokkasho Village Tourism Association, the rock hole was formed through coastal erosion where the waves crash into the rocks and changes its shape over time.

Although the exact location of this Totoro-shaped natural phenomenon isn't confirmed, netizens say that it's near a fishing port on the coastline.

Rokkasho Village has a small population and is located in a rural area in Aomori. While it isn't a typical tourist area, Totoro fans might still find it worth the trip there to search for this work of nature.
