The Samsung Balance Mouse Literally Runs Away If You’re Working Too Much, Great For S’porean OT-ers
Caught in an endless cycle of working overtime that you just can’t seem to break out of? Now here’s a cute little gadget that might just be the answer to your workaholic woes.
Samsung has teamed up with Korean creative agency Innored to come up with a design for the Samsung Balance Mouse, a smart computer mouse meant to help enforce proper work-life balance. Not only is it shaped like an actual mouse - the animal sort - it also runs away from you when you’re overworked. As OT culture in Singapore gets more and more rampant, this is something we all need!

In its normal mode, the Samsung Balance Mouse looks like any other wireless computer mouse, with a curved design that fits right into your palm.
But come 6pm, the end of your work day, its ears suddenly prick up. That’s when it begins its transformation from Handy Office Tool to Advocate of Work-Life Balance.

With the help of sensors, this little guy will scoot away from you, preventing you from working any further. It’s almost like an office pet that looks after your wellbeing. If it could talk, it’d probably be squeaking, “Go home, get a life!”

That’s not the end, though. Don’t think that you can continue being an office slave if the mouse somehow doesn’t manage to evade your grasp.

Once caught, the mouse will dislodge from its outer shell - revealing a blue and pink gradient core - and scoot away. It will continue running around your table as it senses your grabby fingers coming for it, so don’t even try! Just pack up and go home already.

The Samsung Balance Mouse was designed in conjunction with Innored as part of a work-life balance campaign in Korea, where it is said that around 70% of the workforce is overworked and dissatisfied with the amount of leisure time they have.
It is currently not an actual product - though we definitely think it should be made into one! We’d like to order 10 for our office, please.
