I Showered Using This New Cleansing Oil Which Helps Soothe Sensitive Skin In Just 24h
Choosing skincare products is never easy, with tons of options out there causing endless dilemmas. But choosing skincare products when you have sensitive skin is even trickier. It’s always a game of trial and error, and I never know what’s going to aggravate my skin next. After years of experimenting, I still haven’t exactly found a go-to to commit to.
Apart from being sensitive, my skin tends to get uncomfortably dry at times - particularly on my cheeks, palms, and soles of feet. This is almost always the case post-shower.
In my quest to save my face and body from constant discomfort, I tried out Bioderma’s new Atoderm Huile de douche anti-irritation cleansing oil and PP Baume ultra-nourishing moisturiser to see if they could offer any relief.

Yes, you read that right. Bioderma Atoderm Huile de douche is an anti-irritation cleansing oil for shower purposes. Prior to this I have only ever used cleansing oils as makeup removers, so I was curious to see what using a shower oil for the first time would be like.
Don’t be put off by the name of the product, because despite being oil-based, it doesn’t feel greasy at all. When pumped out, this soapless cleanser has a gentle watery texture which can be worked up to a slight lather in your hands. I suggest using a bath sponge or loofah if you prefer more bubbles.

It’s only lightly scented with an allergen-free fragrance, and comes without parabens, alcohol, colourants, preservatives, and sulfates. Only the mildest ingredients are used - you don’t even have to worry about it stinging your eyes.

I was glad to find that the cleansing oil did not make my skin itch or peel post-shower, which sometimes happens when I try new bath products. In fact, a rash that I had gotten a few weeks prior - which I hadn’t been able to get rid of using pharmacy cream - became less red and itchy over the next few days.
This was all thanks to the patented Skin Barrier Therapy formula, which limits irritation-causing bacteria from adhering to the skin. True enough, I did not experience any new itch spots in the weeks to come, even when the weather started to get more humid.

Bioderma’s Atoderm Anti-irritation Cleansing Oil is a handy 2-in-1 product that can also be used on the face.
On top of not leaving an oily film, it made my face feel noticeably less taut after washing - and this was just from the first usage.

Over the course of 2 weeks, I noticed that the usual flakiness and dullness in my dry skin had diminished, giving my face a smoother texture. This also allowed my other skincare products to be absorbed more effectively, further enhancing the positive effects of the cleanser.
It was definitely a great relief to not be bothered by my usual skin discomforts after using this, and I could focus more on enjoying my daily life with ease.

I completed the routine with Bioderma Atoderm PP Baume, a highly hydrating moisturiser. This, too, is gentle on the skin, thanks to it being free of parabens, alcohol, fragrance, and preservatives.
Like the anti-irritation cleansing oil, this is suitable for both face and body - which saves you the trouble of having to seek out multiple products.

Despite being rich and creamy, the formula is non-oily, easily absorbed, and did not leave any sticky residue on my skin. With this, a little goes a long way, so you only require a small amount for maximum hydration.
I’m used to having to reach for my hand cream every hour or so, but this wasn’t the case when I used the PP Baume. It moisturised well, and the effects were more long-lasting - this was probably due to the ingredient Vitamin PP (aka niacinamide), which helps stimulate ceramide production and locks moisture in.
When applied to my face, the PP Baume offered good breathability and did not clog my pores or cause any breakouts. I loved how bouncy and dewy my face felt immediately after each application.
