The next time you go for a beach holiday in Pattaya, Thailand, you’ll want to set aside some time to pop by 7-Eleven for a snack run. Not just any ol’ 7-Eleven, but the biggest 7-Eleven in the entire world.

Unlike the pint-sized outlets in our neighbourhoods, this 7-Eleven is a 2-storey mammoth with an in-house cafe where you can sit and chill with your food and drinks. Plus, it has a futuristic nautical theme to boot, making the whole experience all the more unique.

Read on to find out more about this massive 7-Eleven in Thailand!

Even from afar, you can tell that this 7-Eleven isn’t your regular run-off-the-mill one. Part of the facade is designed to look like a ship, which glows with blue neon lights come evening. There’s a little alfresco dining area with umbrellas outside - already atypical of a convenience store - but wait till you step inside.

Every wall is fully stocked with snacks and drinks. Apart from the usual variety of pre-packaged chips and candy, there’s a sizeable amount of ready-to-eat meals like sandwiches, instant noodles, and microwaveable pasta.

You’ll also be able to find some Japanese delights like salmon onigiri. In any case, the selection here is way more extensive that anything we can get back home, so be prepared to spend a good amount of time choosing!

Keeping in line with the whole ship theme is an aquarium spanning across one wall. It’s just an LED screen and not an actual fish tank, but props for how realistic it looks.

Perched in the air is a diver robot which circles the store while talking and moving its limbs. We’re not entirely sure what else it does, but with cartoons playing on its torso, it does serve as great entertainment for restless kids.

Head up the staircase - decorated with sailing motifs like life buoys and diagrams of ship parts - and you’ll arrive at the in-house cafe. Decked out in chandeliers and wooden furniture, this cosy nook is a nice soothing respite from the heat outdoors.

Here, you’ll be able to order finger food and beverages like coffee. It’s almost like 7-Eleven’s version of Starbucks.

Even the toilets follow the nautical theme, with the male and female signs taking on the identity of a sailor and mermaid respectively.

Inside, you’ll be met with wall decor featuring starfish and landscapes of sandy beaches. It’ll be easy to forget you’re only doing your business in the loo of a convenience store, rather than onboard a luxury cruise!

You wouldn’t normally think of inserting a specific convenience store into your holiday itinerary, but this 7-Eleven outlet at Pattaya is certainly worth a special visit. The best part is that it’s open 24 hours, so you can drop by for a midnight snack if the cravings hit.
