2020 Sanrio Character Ranking's Interim Results Surprises Fans With Hello Kitty's Ranking

The Sanrio Characters are undoubtedly one of the most popular and loved cartoon characters in the world with a long-standing history.

The annual Sanrio Character Ranking debuted back in 1986 and to celebrate the 35th ranking this year, votes by the public determine who among the 80 characters will emerge as champion.

But, the interim results of the ranking took everyone by surprise.

The interim results released a few days ago revealed to fans the Top 10 characters based on voting.

1st: Cinnamoroll

The adorable Cinnamoroll stole everybody's hearts and won the first place in the interim results.

2nd and 3rd: Pompompurin and Pochacco

Coming in close in second and third place are the loveable doggies, Pompompurin and Pochacco.

4th, 5th and 6th: My Melody, YOSHIKITTY and Kuromi

The sweet My Melody took the fourth place, YOSHIKITTY in the fifth place and My Melody's rival, Kuromi, came in sixth place.

7th, 8th, 9th and 10th: Hello Kitty, Little Twin Stars, Tuxedosam and Kerokerokerropi

In case you didn't know, the cute Hello Kitty took home the first place in last year's ranking! Sadly, fan-favourite and one of the oldest Sanrio characters, Hello Kitty, took fans by surprise and came in seventh place this year in the interim ranking results.

Little Twin Stars came in eighth place, Tuxedosam at ninth and Kerokerokerropi, the derpy frog, at tenth place.
