Realistic Miniature Food Embroidery Designs By Ipnot That Looks Like The Real Thing!

Japanese embroidery artist ipnot crafts incredible miniature food and drink that seem to leap off of the fabric and into life. The self-taught artist uses the classic French knot technique (which winds thread around a needle), to create realistic imitations of sweet and savoury treats often look good enough to eat. From pizza and burgers to coffee being poured from a pot, her works often incorporate props, such as ketchup bottles or chopsticks, to add an interactive layer to the pieces.

Ipnot shares on her website that her grandmother’s embroidery practice inspired her to start, and she uses the needle and thread similarly to the painting technique of stippling.

‘I discovered myself that the french knot stitch can be done by wrapping thread around the needle,‘ explains ipnot. ‘I find this type of stitching to be a lot of fun to do and it is my favourite type of stitch. I have chosen the french knot stitch to represent my style, choosing a thread of my own preference from 500 different-coloured embroidery options. as in the art of stipple painting, I use my needle like a paintbrush and I stitch one knot at a time.‘
