The baby-faced 40-year-old actress partook in a Chinese dating reality show Meeting Mr. Right 2 (女儿们的恋爱2) last year. True to the reality show's name, Joe met her Mr. Right on the show!

The lucky guy who moved Joe's heart is Alan Chen (曾伟昌), a 31-year-old Malaysian. The couple met during the filming of Meeting Mr. Right 2 where they were both paired up.

In one of the earlier episodes, Joe confessed to not having dated anyone in the past six years as she did not meet anyone suitable. She hoped to find love by participating in this reality show.

The couple went on many different dates during the show to get to know each other and things seemed to be progressing well.

However, Joe's father initially did not view this pairing favourably as Alan is much younger than Joe. The panelists on the show often lamented about Alan not being romantic enough, worried that he would not be able to touch Joe's heart.

As time passed, Alan began opening up (introverts would agree that it takes time) and this made him transform into a sweet and genuine guy. Alan brought Joe around Malaysia on one of their dates and she was very well taken care of, especially since Alan is finally in his element (back in his home country), which meant that he probably felt more relaxed and confident.

After Meeting Mr. Right 2 ended its broadcast, Joe posted on Weibo that she decided to take part in Meeting Mr. Right 2's filming to find love and not because of the money. She also thanked the production team, saying that there were "no scripts and no lines". She ended off her post with "love did not give up on me, love will not give up on anyone who believes in it". How touching!

Alan also posted a photo of him and Joe at an art gallery, together with heartwarming words: "In the world of billions of people, we were meant to find each other. Love never leave us or anybody. A life of few decades is too short for anything, so just be brave to love! The happy moments seen by all, can only be truly felt by two. Thank you Mango TV, viewers and the family of dolphins for the blessings. Thank you Joe."

After confirming their relationship, viewers criticised Alan for his plain looks but as the saying goes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and other fans have jumped out to defend him. Fun fact: Alan is also a talented artist who can paint really well!

Joe and Alan's reel to real life love story looks like it belongs in a fairytale but it is in fact a reality! We are truly happy for the sweet couple and just like the netizens who have commented on their posts hoping they will get married one day, we are looking forward to that day too.
