Be The Lead Of Jay Chou's Newest Single "Won't Cry" At The Song's MV Filming Locations
Even if you are not a fan of Mandopop, we are pretty sure you have heard the insanely popular song "Won't Cry" (说好不哭) released by Jay Chou on 16 September. The song has been topping charts for its simple yet heart-wrenching lyrics and melody and its music video was viewed over 1 million times in just 8 hours ?
If you haven't heard the song, check out the music video here:
Other than Mayday's Ashin's feature, what really caught people's eyes was the storyline behind the music video. Set in Tokyo, Japan, the music video talks about a coffee shop's employee (played by Japanese model & actress Ayaka Miyoshi) and an aspiring photographer's (played by Japanese actor Watanabe Keisuke) romance.
In line with the lyrics, the two leads broke up because the female lead encouraged the male lead to pursue his dreams but both of them still loved each other and yearned to be with each other again. The music video was shot beautifully in the streets of Tokyo, with gentle blue filter reminiscent of a VSCO filter. Here's where you can re-enact the scenes from the music video!
#1 Tokyo Sky Tree Separation Scene
Google 2-chōme-20 Yokokawa (横川 2-20) on Tower View-dori Street (タワービュー通り) for this location with the Tokyo Sky Tree in the background.
#2 Tokyo Tower Street Scene
Also the location where the leads reconciled, head down to Akabanebashi Station (赤羽橋駅) on the Toei Line. Go past the overpass and go to the second traffic light intersection where you can see the Tokyo Tower in the background.
#3 Coffee Shop
Known as Jay Chou's favourite milk tea shop, head down to Machi Machi in Harajuku to sip on some milk tea and take some shots!
#4 Camera Shop
Located in Ginza, Katsumido Camera is the filming location where the female lead bought the JPY 232 000 (~SGD 2957.68) Hasselblad camera for the male lead. Although the price is pretty steep, we are quite sure that this camera is going to sell out.
#5 Jay Chou + Ashin Scenes
Unfortunately closed to the public, the rooftop of the Palace Side Building is where Jay Chou belted out this hit with Mayday's Ashin. You can still head to the building and look through the windows to see the filming location but Jay and Ashin won't be there ?
Make sure you add a filter on VSCO to your pictures to get the MV vibes in your photos! Try this combination:

Filter: C8 +12
Exposure: -1.7
Saturation: +2.3
White Balance: -4.5 (to make the photo blue)
Grain: +2.6
If you are heading to Japan soon, why not pay these filming locations a visit and be your very own Jay Chou MV lead?
