Chermaine Sheh Launches Her Own Cosmetics Line Inspired By The Story Of Yanxi Palace

Though Charmaine Sheh already had a solid television career in Hong Kong, her pivotal role in the critically acclaimed The Story of Yanxi Palace has helped her career scale greater heights, especially so in Mainland China.

That is not all, though. Besides the expansion of her fanbase, her role in the drama has also inspired her to start her new venture into the world of cosmetics!

During the official launch of her cosmetics brand Sh, 43-year-old Charmaine Sheh revealed The Story of Yanxi Palace inspired her to launch her own cosmetics brand.

She shared: "When I was filming Story of Yanxi Palace, there was a scene where my character finally becomes the empress and her costumes, jewellery and makeup changed. The character needed to exude royal beauty and authority, which is why the character's lipstick also needed to adopt a more vibrant shade of red."

"However, no matter how many red lipsticks I tried on in real life, I couldn't find a shade of red I love. In the end, I resorted to using several different red lipsticks and mixed them around to get the shade I like. At the time, I thought that if I could develop and release a red lipstick I would like, it would give me a great sense of fulfilment."

Emphasising on the importance of a woman's lip colour, Charmaine quoted novelist Eileen Chang (張愛玲): "You can go without foundation, and you can face the day with a bare face, but you must at least wear lipstick. Lip colour will make a person appear vibrant and radiant."

Adding on the quote, Charmaine said that a woman's lips are one of the most magical parts of her face. Charmaine's cosmetic line, Sh, has launched 12 shades of red lipstick to help every lady bring out their best and unique self.
