When you watch tutorials online, note that the term 'upper lid' is segmented into many smaller areas. The picture above will clarify. (Eg. Apply a darker shade on your outer V)
Buy a good eyeshadow blending brush (Like the above). A good option will be Real Technique brushes at local drug stores. They are pretty good! Do not use the cheap ones because the outcome will discourage you from trying again.

Choosing The Right Eyeshadow Brand/Palette
Right at our local Guardian and Watsons stores, you can buy such palettes from L'oreal, Maybelline and more... When you test eyeshadows, make sure you can see the colour of the shadows. Some eyeshadow quality are so crappy that you can barely see any colour. You don't want what we call, 'weak/bad pigmentation'.
Korean Beauty
This is a typical Korean Look. A reddish pink eyeshadow on the upper lid, a gentle eyeliner with a subtle wing. A stroke of white eyeshadow on your tear duct/inner V that gradient out to the reddish pink eyeshadow again.
Always start from the lightest colour and work your way up to darker colours.
Referring to the picture below,
A= Lightest Colour (Highlighter)
B= Main Colour (Apply on the entire lid)
E= A Darker Shade (Apply on the outer corner of your eye)
D=Last Colour (Using a cotton bud or eyeliner brush, stroke the pink on your lower lash line.)
*You can also use A on your lower lash line closer to your tear duct. This will have an enlarging eye effect.
*You can also use D on the middle portion of your upper eyelid to finish off for the very Korean look!
Formal Occasions
Simply look at your palette and start colouring your eyes accordingly to the template above. From the lightest to the darkest shade on your palette. Then, blend it out gently using your blending brush. This template is a basic guideline for eyeshadow application and blending.
You can get this palette and start blending it at home! This colour is ideal for job interviews and also, a daily work makeup for working adults!
Growth is progressive. Having mastered this technique, you can go on to try wilder colours. You'll be amazed by how easy eyeshadow application can be!
Glamorous Looks
Well, if you love the pro and the glam, it is possible for beginners too! Go ahead and purchase the NAKED palette and Too-faced chocolate bars. They also come with a brush so you don't have to buy it separately!
Bonus Tip: Are you lusting for one of these metallic eyeshadows?
Put this in your bag and swipe it over your eyes anytime. A quick 30 second fix and you're ready to turn into a party animal. This is in fact, the easiest. Dab it on your upper lid with a finger, dab it out. Apply eyeliner and mascara.
You're good to go!
(P.S You cannot go wrong with this. Let it dry for a bit and don't apply too much!)
With more practice and attention to details, you can perfect these pretty eyes from the comfort of your home!
