Take A Whiff Of Over 300 Affordable Perfumes At Aurel's New Fragrance Library That's Completely Unmanned
Spritzing on perfume can feel like wearing and living like the high life, but acquiring said perfumes can be done even on a low budget. Local perfume curator, Aurel, will convince you to throw out any lingering perfume elitism as they have a stunning range of affordable yet exquisite fragrances with average prices from $30 to $60. Following its first unmanned store at Centropod @ Changi, Aurel has moved to a bigger and grander space, a Perfume Library, where shoppers can test out perfumes and purchase them in-store.
Just like the Changi store, this new perfume library is plonked in the middle of nowhere. Still, the journey is worth it for a peaceful time, browsing and luxuriating in a library of fragrances that won't break the bank. It's located in an industrial area in Bedok, a 10-minute walk from Bedok North LRT Station.
The store is unmanned so shoppers are required to book a 45-minute slot online on aurelsg.com before heading down. A door pin will be sent via text to key in and enter. And while shoppers could previously only test out the fragrances from the store and purchase it online, there's now an option to shop in-store.

In stark contrast to the rough exterior of the industrial building, the perfume library is a serene space filled with close to 400 perfumes. Many of them are similar to iconic fragrances but at a more accessible price point.

The fragrances are sorted by brand, country of origin, and fragrance profile. Start with the shelf of sweet gourmands like KIRA Matcha Latte, then move on to the bespoke Middle Eastern perfumes, and TikTok viral scents like Jenny Glow Freesia & Pear that's a dupe for Jo Malone London's English Pear & Freesia cologne.

Each fragrance has an information card, and they're like your perfume connoisseur friend's personal notes. Instead of copy and pasting product claims, these cards detail the perfume's longevity and scent profile according to the Aurel team's first-hand impressions after testing it themselves.

Just like a library has reading areas, this store has cosy little nooks where you can take a seat and a sniff. There are pens to label the perfume tester cards and tiny jars of coffee beans to reset your scent receptors. The store has a few of these nooks as there may multiple groups of shoppers sharing the same time slot. These areas are thoughtfully spaced out so each group will still enjoy a private shopping experience.

To make a purchase, shoppers can scan the QR code of the perfume, add it to their cart, and check out. Besides home delivery, there's a new in-store shopping feature. Those who want to get their fragrances on the spot can opt for 'Pick Up' when checking out and select the earliest pick up time, which is typically within 15 minutes from the purchase time. Once the order is ready, simply collect it from the locker right by the entrance with the WhatsApp message provided.
Aurel's perfumes are also available to shop online on aurelsg.com, Shopee, Lazada, and TikTok Shop.
