Ian Fang was once a familiar face on Singapore television screens — in fact, he was named one of the '8 Dukes of Caldecott Hill' back in 2014, and you may remember seeing him on local dramas like Happy Prince, On the Fringe, and even popular police thriller C.L.I.F.. But in a shocking development this month, the former Mediacorp actor is now convicted of multiple sexual offences involving a then-15-year-old girl, and has been sentenced to 40 months in jail for sexually exploiting, stalking, and even passing a sexually transmitted disease to the victim.

As disturbing details continue to surface, from hotel rendezvous and hospital visits to emotional manipulation and threats of suicide, what once seemed like a promising career has now become a cautionary tale. Here's a chronological breakdown of key events in the case.

2011–2023: Ian Fang’s rise to fame

2011: Ian Fang makes his acting debut with Mediacorp.
2013: Wins Star Award for Best Newcomer.
Over 12 years, he appears in numerous local dramas including On The Fringe, Served HOT, and Tiger Mum.

April 2023: Fang leaves Mediacorp

After a 12-year career with Mediacorp, Ian Fang leaves the broadcaster. He begins pursuing independent projects in music, content creation, and entrepreneurship.

May 2024: First contact with victim

Fang, then 34, meets a 15-year-old girl at an entertainment event.
The two exchange contact details and begin chatting daily. He was aware of her age.

June 2024: Repeated sexual encounters

Fang engages in sexual acts with the minor on nine occasions in June alone. These encounters happen at his home, a hotel, and even in a hospital. Most were unprotected.

June 6: Fang visits the victim at a hotel where she is quarantined while recovering from COVID-19. He had beer and then had unprotected sex with her, refusing to wear a condom when the victim requested him to.
June 13: Fang invites the victim to his home late at night. The victim was still being quarantined at this time, but snuck out to his place. They have unprotected sex again.
June 17: Fang visits the victim in a private hospital room after midnight, ensuring she is alone, and engages in sex with her again.
Fang tells her to keep their relationship secret.
Later, the girl felt her genitals start to hurt. She then saw a doctor and was diagnosed with the human papillomavirus, an STI, 8world reported.

July–August 2024: Escalation and emotional abuse

August 3: The victim’s mother discovers the abuse and reports it to authorities.
August 4: Fang is arrested and released on bail a day later. Fang disregards instructions from police to cease contact with the victim and reaches out to her multiple times.
He urges her to convince her mother not to press charges and threatens to commit suicide if he is jailed.
August 23–28: The girl is admitted to the Institute of Mental Health and diagnosed with adjustment disorder and depression due to the trauma.
She later ceases contact, but Fang continues to harass her through messages and calls.

September 2024: Fang continues stalking the victim

September 22: Fang calls the victim 18 times and messages her on WhatsApp.

19 May 2025: Conviction

Fang pleads guilty to:
- 3 counts of sexual penetration of a minor,
- with 3 additional sexual charges taken into consideration, including 1 count of stalking & 1 count of obstructing justice.
