Singapore's thrift store scene is about to get even better as 2nd STREET, Japan's largest thrift store chain, is opening its first outpost in Singapore at 313@somerset. The 6,198-square-foot store is set to open its doors on 29 April 2025.

Here's a peek at what to expect:

This massive store currently has over 23,000 pieces curated and imported directly from Japan. The racks and shelves will be continually refreshed with new items, eventually having an equal ratio of products from Japan and Singapore.

You'll find everything under the sun from apparel and bags to shoes and accessories, including Japanese brands, and a mix of high street brands and designer labels. Prices start at just $5!

The store has three main sections. There's an extensive womenswear zone, a menswear corner, and a luxury brand collection sandwiched between them.

And unlike most thrift stores in Singapore, there are spacious and comfortable fitting rooms where you can try on clothes!

How to sell your second-hand items at 2nd STREET

Need to free up space in your wardrobe? Bring your preloved goods to 2nd STREET and give them a new lease of life!

No appointment is required and quotes will be provided in a few hours. Just drop your pre-owned items off at the store, go for a walk around the mall, and head back to find out if they passed 2nd STREET's assessment and if so, how much you'll get for them.

Each item brought in will be carefully evaluated for its condition, brand, and adherence to 2nd STREET’s specifications. Even if your items don't end up on the racks to be resold, they will be handled sustainably by recycling or upcycling into something new.

What to buy at 2nd STREET

With the sheer number of items in the store, we didn't manage to scour through every shelf and rack. But in just a 15-minute window shopping frenzy, we came across many stunning finds!

First, we spotted some Japanese brands that are hard to come by in Singapore like kawaii fashion label Candy Stripper and luxury loungewear favourite, Gelato Pique. This cute Candy Stripper top is retailing for just $15 - a total steal as these pieces typically go for about 13,000 yen (~SGD120) in Japan.

This $20 Gelato Pique hoodie made with fuzzy "Moco Moco" material is another amazing find. In Japan, you'd have to shell out about 8700 yen (~SGD 81) for this cosy hoodie.

Most clothing pieces are in excellent condition, as expected from a Japanese thrift store, and items that have some minor defects like loose threads or stains will be priced lower.

For example, this Ralph Lauren tee will set you back just 7 bucks and the Kate Spade New York top and skirt are just $25 each!

If you love Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea merchandise, 2nd STREET is a good place to hunt for some imported preloved merch. We found this adorable ShellieMay Plush Pass Case Holder retailing at just $5!

We let out a little gasp when we spotted this pair of brand-new Tod's double-buckle leather sandals for just $200 - they retail at $1,211 on FarFetch! According to 'girl math' calculations, the lucky shopper who snags this is practically making money.
