While there's no official confirmation yet, there are some promising signs. The original team behind Mamma Mia! has dropped some hints that a third movie could be in the works, and we're feeling pretty hopeful!

Recently, Christine Baranski, who played Tanya, shared some exciting news about the potential sequel.

In an interview, Christine mentioned that she recently had dinner with the film's producer, Judy Craymer, and it sounds like things are moving forward. Apparently, there's already a storyline in the works!

Christine spilled, "I was in London with Judy Craymer at our favourite watering hole, she's planning Mamma Mia 3. She gave me the narrative plot line of how it's going to happen. That's all I can say!"

Back in 2022, Ol Parker, the writer and director of Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again!, hinted, "Judy Craymer, the genius producer behind the musical and the first two films, always (planned) for it to be a trilogy. That's all I can say."

When asked if she'd be up for another sequel, Amanda Seyfried, who played Sophie, didn’t hold back. She responded, “Oh yeah! Beyond yes.”

Meryl Streep, who played Donna in the first two movies, revealed that there’s a meeting on the horizon to discuss the possibility of her character coming back, despite Donna’s death in the second film.

“I don’t know how they’re going to do it,” she added. “They have an idea. I haven’t heard it yet but it’s in my diary and I’m going to hear about it pretty soon,” the actress said, adding, “Of course I want to do it. I think folks love it.”

Pierce Brosnan, who played one of Sophie’s potential dads, also shared his thoughts, saying, “We better make it soon, I think."

Lily James, who played the younger version of Donna in Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, joked about the next movie's possible plot, saying, “We laughed that it could be Mamma Mia! The DNA Test. You finally find out who the dad is.”
