Now that August is here (along with the many National Day festivities islandwide), it's time to give up clinging to those summer vibes like they're our favourite sunscreen and dedicate ourselves to making this month unforgettable. As Taylor Swift says, the month sure has a way of slipping 'away into a moment in time'!

#1: Have a spin at Gachapon machines, try out Nintendo games & shop till you drop at the Japan Summer Fiesta

Heading to town over the weekend? Make sure you stop by Takashimaya Square at Ngee Ann City Basement 2, where the Japan Summer Fiesta is currently in full swing. From racks of clothing to rows of Bandai Gachapon machines and homeware to electronics, the space is chock-full of great fashion and lifestyle options for all ages.

Best of all, there's even a huge Sanrio section in honour of Hello Kitty's 50th Anniversary. Inside you'll find plenty of adorable character goods, such as stickers, plushies, stationery and customisable name keychains! Those who enjoy video games, especially the Nintendo Switch Sports series, can also stop by the demonstration area for a round of complimentary gaming — you'll even get to walk away with some fun freebies!

Back for its 15th run, the Singapore Night Festival 2024 is about to blow all the previous ones out of the water with its stunning installations and Insta-worthy new spots.

This year's theme is Art of Play, which pays homage to uniquely Singaporean ways of playing and childhood through interactive experiences.

Festival-goers will be totally spoiled for choice with over 50 items to pick from, including projection mapping artworks, performances, Festival Villages, Night Lights installations and partner programmes. Luckily, the festival will last an extra weekend as compared to previous iterations, so visitors can have enough time to cover everything!
#3: Explore the largest (and newest) POP MART store in Singapore at ION Orchard

POP MART fans are in for a real treat this month, because not only is the POP TOY SHOW returning to Sands Expo and Convention Centre from 23 to 25 August 2024, they've also just opened an enormous new store in town! This centrally located outlet at ION Orchard spans an impressive 262 square metres and boasts a brightly lit, futuristic vibe.

Inside, shoppers will find multiple special photo-ops areas including a SKULLPANDA Trust life-sized sculpture, Dimoo-on-the-Go area, huge Molly display wall, and even a Built-in Photo Booth. Some of these areas will also change according to new product launches.

#7: Treat yourself and your little ones to adorable merch & activities at the Hello Kitty 50th Run Fest 2024

What's better than a day of fun in the sun for the whole family? Two extraordinary days of Hello Kitty-themed runs and activities, of course. This kawaii-filled extravaganza features a variety of games, contests, and plenty of exclusive merch up for grabs. #9: Take a tour around Lady Dior House and celebrate the brand's iconic handbag

Fashionistas, assemble! From now until 11 August, Lady Dior House will open its doors to visitors in celebration of the iconic Lady Dior handbag. This travelling capsule exhibition is here in Singapore for the very first time, and also showcases a range of wearable art pieces, Instagrammable 3D sculptures, gorgeous photography and prints.

Thanks to projects like Lady Dior As Seen By and Dior Lady Art, the bag's design has undergone constant reinvention by up-and-coming artists, alongside well-established names in the fashion industry. These pieces will be up for display, so be sure to make a reservation ahead of time to see the exhibit!
#10: Splash your way into a rocking good time at the inaugural Waterbomb Singapore

Unlike other music festivals, the ultra-popular Waterbomb from South Korea combines two exciting experiences into one. As part-Kpop extravaganza and part-water festival, this exciting event allows attendees to spray others with water pistols while reveling in live performances from some of the most famous Korean stars out there.
This festival will be making its way to Siloso Beach in Sentosa on 24 - 25 August for the very first time. Crowds can expect to see a star-studded lineup which includes megastars like Bam Bam, Sandara Park, Jay Park, Jessi, Rain, and more!
