For the very first time, 7-Eleven has introduced ready-to-eat somen dishes made with thin, silky wheat noodles. For something simple yet comforting, go for the 7-Select Somen with Inari in Dashi Stock ($5.50) topped with kombu and bonito flakes. Prefer something rich and creamy instead? Treat yourself to the 7-Select Soymilk Somen with Chicken ($6).

If you're in the mood for rice instead, there are four new Japanese meals to choose from. They're all prepared with Hitomebore rice, which boasts a natural, subtle sweetness and an appetising shiny texture.

You can't go wrong with hearty classics like 7-Select Creamy Caramelised Onions Hamburg with Rice ($6.20), 7-Select Hayashi Beef with Rice ($6.20), 7-Select Chicken Katsudon ($6), and 7-Select Omurice with Japanese Curry Chicken ($6). The latter two come with a fluffy omelette!
