SHINRAI Is A New Sushi-Izakaya With Smoky Aburi Specialties & Skewers From Just $3.80
If you're a foodie, chances are that you're already familiar with the endless stretch of eateries located in Telok Ayer. But while most of the restaurants have a focus on hearty mains and free-flow buffets, there aren't quite as many offering up small bites.
That's where SHINRAI comes in — this brand-new sushi-izakaya has quite the impressive range of skewers, sushi rolls, and other snacks, all perfect for sharing.

Step inside and you'll be greeted by sleek, modern furnishings combined with brightly coloured traditional Japanese prints and decor. We just love how the walls are all jazzed up with neon signs! These quirky quotes and art prints are also great photo spots for your feed.

Start off your meal with appetisers like the Seafood Chawanmushi with Truffle Caviar ($9.80) and Salmon Carpaccio ($16.80), which are both light and savoury enough to whet your appetite. We absolutely decimated the chawanmushi and it sent us to truffle heaven! Those who enjoy caviar can also indulge in a heap of it, all stacked atop the smooth and jiggly egg.

The skewers at SHINRAI are decently affordable as light bites or a side for sharing. We recommend the plump and juicy grilled Hotate ($7.80), tender Tsukune ($6.80), and Tebasaki ($3.80) for chicken lovers.

There's no such thing as too much mentaiko, especially when its loaded onto freshly grilled shellfish! The Ebi with Mentaiko ($21.80) is definitely one of the highlights on SHINRAI's menu for its generously sized prawn.

Big eaters can fill up on sushi and maki like the Hotate with Foie Gras Sushi ($23.80), which contains 6 pieces of sushi per plate. The hotate and foie gras go together perfectly to create a soft, buttery texture that melts in the mouth. Meanwhile, the SHINRAI Signature Maki ($21.80) melds mouthwatering ingredients like torched salmon, grilled unagi, avocado, tobiko and and chicken floss.

The eatery is having an opening special where diners will be able to enjoy 1-for-1 glasses of house sake (300ml) from 8:30pm until closing.
You will have to head down between 1 and 30 April 2024 in order to make use of the offer, so make sure to hurry!
