We're feeling major postcode envy towards those living in Bukit Batok West as you lucky folks can get your late-night sweets cravings satiated 24/7 at the upcoming Chateraise unmanned store.
The first of its kind in Singapore, this new concept shop is completely unmanned and is open 24 hours. There are already such stores in Japan, and now we'll have one too at Le Quest Shopping Mall which will opening its doors on 8 March. Shoppers can expect fully automated registers for self-checkout and payment, as well as the freshest dessert selections that are updated by Chateraise's staff daily.

The big question is: how will the payment work? Well, a bit of prep is required to enjoy the convenience of shopping at this store. First, download the app (Google Play | App Store), register and add a payment method by credit or debit card. After that, scan a QR code generated on the app that will be your Cloud Chart, which is like a virtual shopping basket.
Any item you remove from any shelf will be detected by the 17 sensors in the store, and automatically added to your Cloud Chart. If you change your mind about anything you picked up, simply put it back on the shelf and it will be removed from your Cloud Chart. Once you're done shopping, just walk out of the store, and the payment will be deducted from your card!

This store will have a wide range of pre-packaged desserts including ice creams, fruit jelly and crackers.
There will also be outlet-exclusive items including the new Cookie Chou Ice, ice cream puffs in two flavours: Belgium Chocolate and Vanilla Custard.
