KOI Launched First Ever Okinawa-Style Brown Sugar Milk Tea Series @ AMK!
Everyone is going crazy over Brown Sugar Milk Tea and KOI clearly knew there's no way they're gonna miss out on this.
KOI dropped a bomb on us on the evening of Aug 31 in a Facebook post, introducing their all-new Okinawa-style Brown Sugar series that's set to launch exclusively @ AMK MRT on Sept 1 onwards and everyone went crazy!
Firstly, it's brown sugar. Secondly, it's Okinawa-style milk tea. If you didn't already know, Okinawa-style milk tea is to die for (in our opinion). But of course, tastes differ from one person to another~
As not much information was given by KOI, we decided to check out if it really lives up to our "Okinawa dream". The queue was pretty decent when we got there. We were expecting wow volume but nope~

Here's what KOI's latest brown sugar series include:

Okinawa Brown Sugar Series
Bubble Milk Tea - M: $4.10, L: $5.70
Fresh Milk - M: $4.10, L: $5.70
Black Tea Latte - M: $4.10, L, $5.70
We decided to go with the classic Bubble Milk Tea (left) and Iced Black Tea Latte (right).

After seeing how the Brown Sugar series from Tiger Sugar or R&B Tea look, we thought KOI kinda failed on this part~

As you can see, it looks pretty normal. With all the brown sugar densed to the bottom of the cup where all the pearls are.
But hey, after we shook it up, this happened!

The reaction of the milk and brown sugar is beautiful! Though it didn't produce any 'tiger stripes' like what Tiger Sugar or R&B Tea did, it was quite a sight- something we didn't really expect.

Similar to the Brown Sugar Okinawa Bubble Milk Tea, the Brown Sugar Okinawa Black Tea Latte (Iced) also had its pearls and brown sugar sunken at the bottom of the cup when we received it.

But unlike the Bubble Milk Tea, it did not have the "Tiger Sugar" effect. In fact, it became an almost kopi peng colour!
So.... Is KOI's new series worth trying?
If you love Okinawa milk tea, yes! Instead of regular syrup, Okinawa milk tea uses roasted brown sugar to give it the distinct flavour that it carries.
Though it's good, we still prefer Sharetea's version of Okinawa Milk Tea. It could be because they've been mastering this drink for years tho.
If you love brown sugar milk tea, GIVE KOI A CHANCE!
P/s: We heard that KOI's Okinawa Brown Sugar series would eventually be available at their other stores but for now, do head over to their outlet @ AMK MRT!
Warning: Do take note that it's only available at KOI @ AMK MRT. We literally walked over to the outlet at AMK central thinking that should be it when the only place selling it was the outlet by the MRT.
